2013 GT Advance Trac System / Traction Control???
Better to leave on or off?
Mainly a daily commuter but I do occasionally push the car on freeway esp when i see slow *** camaros or charger/challengers (and they see my ***).
Also its an auto and I usually drive it in sport mode
I've heard its only good OFF if launching or doing hi perf driving that requires wheel spins
Is driving as a commuter in OFF mode ok for car? I like driving that way and car seems to perform better (puts down power better) but could all be in my head
Also, does driving in ON or OFF affect MPG in any way?
Thanks!

im not sure how yours works, but if i switch my car to "sportmode" it feels different -- more responsive. but then again i have a manual transmission.
when i want to have fun and just feel like driving hard, i turn it off... i leave it on when i drive the streets just for safety sake.

You never know when you might need it to avoid an accident. With only 800 mi. on my car i know it worked for me on the freeway when a truck tire came at me at 80 mph. I leave it on most of the time on the highway.

I always leave mine off, even when its raining lol .....like your right , you never know when you have to pass a slow camaro or challenger. And every now and then I like to get a little sideways.

I don't see anyone mentioning what exactly they're disabling. IMU, there's two off modes: tap the button to disable traction control aka TCS, and hold it down for >5 seconds (while stopped and brakes applied) to also turn off AdvanceTrac aka Electronic Stability Control.
It shouldn't affect gas mileage in a significant way, apart from the "wasted" energy spinning the wheels, and maybe the "wasted" energy putting the car sideways
These systems are pretty smart! Although a computer cannot consider all of the things the human can (such as anticipating future events - the electronic nanny can't see what's coming up, at least so far), we cannot do things it can, such as braking individual wheels and such. The TCS/ESC systems can react quite quickly, and in a predicable manner, and reasonable compensator for the driver population en-mass, for an unexpected event. On the track things should be fully anticipated.

I have the same car...'13 GT automatic. Just leave the traction system on unless you are at the drag strip. Also, leave the car in regular drive mode.
If you want to step it up... put the gear shift down into 'sport shift mode' and DONT touch the toggle for select a shift and it will shift on it's own in sport shift mode. In this mode, it will not go into 6th gear.

Turning off ESC and TC stiffens the steering. I drive with TC off, it gets in my way in second gear on hard launches. ESC has helped me once, but ruined my fun countless times. No doubt it would help in emergency maneuvers.

There are 3 modes.
TCS off - Traction Control off.
Hold brake and press TCS button twice - SPORT Mode - i wonder what it is? Can anyone explain this.
Hold it for 5 seconds - TCS and ECS off... ADVANCE TRACK OFF.

I had questions also when I first got my GT - I started a thread and there are some good answers in it. Also search the forums as I found a bunch of threads on this.

I usually leave it on unless I'm hitting the windy country roads, then I'm in Sport Mode. If it's wet out they stay on all the time. It's usually wet in some capacity here so the fun is limited.

My first muscle car was a 67 GTX with a 426 Hemi. Loved that car and would love to have it now. Point being I get in my car and hit the brake and hold the button for 5 seconds and drive off. Never had any use for the computer telling me how to drive. I'm 64 now and I have yet have an accident, other then being rear ended sitting at a light once. When I hit 80 I might need the computer to do my thinking for me but by that time they may have a computer that can change my adult diaper as well. I like the feel of the raw power and as such I will be making tune mods to my 2014 GT/CS. To each his own. By the way I am new here and I love reading the threads keep it up. Did I forget to mention that I was an engineering manager and a plant manager for GM back in the day. I still love the mustang over the Camaro. Love the feel of the car. Thanks guys.
