2007-2009 GT 500 Red Edition
Educate me please -- I'm told by dealer that there were only 300 2009 White w/Red Stripe Shelby GT 500's produced (with the red Cobra, black and red seats, etc). Is this true? And if it is, does it make it more valuable. Worth $35k (16,000 miles).
Also, exhaust and hood have been modified -- does this increase/decrease value? I'm thinking of buying it, but want to make sure I'm investing in the right one.
Thanks for any and all feedback!

217 coupes produced in white with red stripes, 118 verts. That combination is one of the less common ones, but I don't know whether it would be worth more money because of it. Same with the modded exhaust. To me the modded hood, depending on how it was changed, might actually make it worth less. But since these cars aren't 40 yr old classics yet, originality isn't always respected like it would be on an older car.
I bought my black '09 in Aug of 2012 with 3900 miles on it for $37k. To me, $35k is a tad high for an 09 with 16k miles. Depends on how bad you want it, you know? If it's in great shape, & that color combo is what you want, then try to get them down a couple grand.

Mods generally hurt a car's value especially if the seller is using the rarity factor to sell a car. The two (mods and rarity) don't mix. Buyers who want a modern 'collector' car want them as they came from the factory, or as close as possible, and with very low miles. The 16k miles on this car is good but not outstanding to a 'collector'. Hell, I've got only 19k miles on my '07 so 16k is no big deal at this point, not for an '09. The color can mean a lot to a collector who will be paying top $$. The average person should not be paying this same kind of money once the car has been modded. If you really love the color, then definitely raise the bar a bit on price but don't consider the rarity factor. It means zip. You will find out the hard way when the day comes when you have to sell the car, and with even more miles added on. It will just be another 'used' car. Be smart and negotiate the price down. Good luck if you go for it.
