Funny, it doesn't look like a Mustang. I'm not sure if they actually made these, they look like something Chevy had made.

I learned about them in this website.
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Twister Special, Ford produced 90 Twister II Mustangs

Did a search and found this for you.

The Twister Special had a very interesting beginning. Late in the 1969 production year American Raceways, Inc. (ARI) contacted the Ford Motor Corporation regarding the production of pace cars for the race tracks in their organization. Ford eagerly obliged by designing a unique 1970 Mach 1 Mustang. Each car's detailing was color coordinated to match ARI's various race tracks. Unfortunately, the ARI went bankrupt and the cars were never delivered.

Fortunately for Ford, a special project was underway in Kansas City Missouri. People at the district sales office approached Ford about producing a flashy, high performance, promotional car for their "Total Performance Day" which would be held Friday, Nov. 7, 1969. Now, Ford had the opportunity to market the vehicles originally manufactured for ARI. Fords shipped 96 Mach I Mustangs and 90 Torino Cobras to Kansas City. They contracted with a detailing firm there to remove the ARI logos and replace them with the Mach I logo, Ford script, and the Twister Special logo.

On the morning of Nov. 7th, the assembly of Kansas City district dealers converged. Seminars and performances were given promoting Ford's high perforamce cars and parts. The highlight of the day came in the afternoon when the dealers were treated to a display commemorating the event - 90 vermilion Torino Cobras, and 96 GRABBER ORANGE MACH I's - THE TWISTER SPECIAL!!

More like Chevy Monza Spyder from late 1970s.

I guess you're not used to the Fox body.
And you should say that the Grand Am looks more like the Mustang, since the '85 Mustang came before the late 80's Grand Am

Thanks Skip! Apparently if you can get your hands on one of these you have a pretty rare piece of history

As for 1985's. My boss at Sloan Ford has a 1985 Canyon Red GT, completely stock with only 900 original miles on the odometer. Pretty cool huh?

Hey Andy, is your boss's car an Auto or stick and does it have cruise. I had a '85 GT that I bought new and it was a stick car with no cruise. That 3 spoke steering wheel was a good looking piece. Tha automatic cars actually had throttle body fuel injection and the stick cars had carburators.

you got that from the gt registry website. I am on that site too. that is where I first heard of them too. if you cant afford a real one one of the model kit companys is going to be coming out with one soon. also they had some outing in KC and saw a real one there. probably will be there next year too. might have to check ebay for one. I already have my project car.
