1969 mustang

I am looking at a 1969 mustang coupe that has a 390 engine in it. Every thing that I have found on the internet says that the mach 1 or the GT had the 390 in it and the coupe had the 302. Can any one clear this up. Thanks

You could order a Mach 1 with a 351, 390 or 428. You could order a GT with 302, 351, 390, or 428.

seriously doubt its a GT 390. VERY rare.. you said coupe.. as in notchback (non fastback)? if so its not a Mach 1. All those were fastbacks. My guess its a transplant or not a 390.. can you post pics???

wow i missed the question in his post. You could order a 390 in a coupe, prob rare though.

Just check the engine code on te door and you'll know right away if its the original engine or not.

I just bought this 69 mustang and found out the 390 was factory. This car also has what looks like factory air and disk brakes on the front. The vin number is 9F01S108931. I was wondering if some one knows if there were alot of cars ordered this way or is this rare. Were I can get more info about this 69

i would imagine its somewhat rare. there were not alot of 390s built in 69, after all it was the last year of it beign offered and there were plenty of other engine options that performed much better

I would think that the vin # could be run and checked out to its original set up ! by the right person.
