1967-1968
1967-1968
I question why Ford has not, to date, used the 1967-1968 Mustang Fastback, in its current Mustang design. While I like the 2011 Mustang GT, I think the 67-68 design would have been much more retro in appearance. As Dodge has done a remarkable job recreating the 1970 Challenger theme (although a less bloated version would have been much more desirable). The 1967-1968 Mustang has a lean, aggressive look, that has not been equaled, but could be brought back in a modern version.
The design of the S197 overall combines some of the best cues from the 1965 through 1969 Mustangs. The current body is more like the '67 and 8 than the previous one, with the hips, the curved decklid panel, the more separated lights, the meaner looking front end...
There is a recreation using a S197 mated to a lot of 1967 or so looking parts to make a new car look almost like the old one... and it's... interesting.
I think the lack of interest in this topic, as you put it, is because honestly, there's nothing to talk about... unless you just want to revive what's been hashed about the 2010+'s polarizing butt.
I'm sure that's not what you wanted, right?
/Challenger LOOKS sexy, but need a lot of help performing. Bloated hog of a car, looks aren't everything, y'know.
