I don't know about the rest of you but I was really starting to worry. I was going through withdrawals. It's great to have the site back up. Thanks Brad and everyone else that works on it!!!!

I feel for the guys working on it. It's not like this is a corporate website with large amounts of funding. Moving to a different server with possibly a different db means all kinds of settings that have to be discovered. We're discovering them now [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/04.gif[/img]. Because Brad releases a new "feature" or information, site traffic triples and what you see as a failure is mearly the server providing first come first serve service (ie you see a "Page cannot be Displayed" error). Then we move to faster hardware to help stave off the load and have a stroke of bad luck in the form of hardware failure.

No matter how much we prepare, the public response tends to amaze us.

I don't think its appropriate to discuss specifics since it's not my site, but there are many public venues that have this information.

I dont have exact numbers off hand, but I remember during the 2005 launch celebration, unvieled we rolled over like 4 million hits in one day.

That number is just a little south of what we recorded. But that number is a good average that entire week though. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/worship.gif[/img]
