Site Not Loading
From my home pc the site will not load. Anywhere else I go it seems to load fine.
I can let it set and try to load for a little bit then I get a site that says there is no website at this address
Edit: Only does it in Firefox for some reason...On it fine with Internet Explorer

Ive had a couple ofpeople ask me about the site not loading, but i've been checking it on a regular basis and not had one problem other than whatever is going on with teh uploads directory
maybe your pc is using or has saved the old cookies of old address that crashed maybe delete history of being here then go to TMS just a thought.

Ditto. Happened to me on Sunday morning. The home page would load with the banner bar, but no ads and no images. If I tried to get to any of the links via the banner bar, I'd get a 404 error. Being that I was still getting thread update e-mails, I figured it was something on my end, but the links in the update e-mails would result in 404 errors as well.
Cleared itself up by yesterday afternoon tho. Thought perhaps it was an issue with my ISP's DNS resolution...

Yeah it was down for a couple of hours this weekend. I was redirected to an 'apache server' error message. I tried the filebeam link and it worked. Then a few hours later the forum's would come up fine.
Found out what it was, there was some changes made to the network over the weekend along with security patches applied and such. IP address was changed which was why some ISP's didnt get hte updated dns out as quickly as one would like.
Site down all day until just now, 9.30a - 6.20p PST. "DNS error". All other sites & forums loaded fine. Filebeam.com loaded fine. Between the crash, no backup, repeated downtime, its getting waaaay old.
Sorry guys, just feedin back.

I'm not going to get into a fingerpointing match with your ISP either because I know exactly what they are going to say. If you can get to <insert website> without any issues then there are only two possible issues: either the website isn't available (services are down) or something is blocking you from getting to the website. Now, it's not hard to prove that the website and forums were up. TMS also does not actively block anyone unless you are in a few countries that harbor spammers and script kiddies. So, if you would like for us to help you troubleshoot the issue we would be more than happy to help, provided you quit trying to run us down with the bus.
For your info, you IP address which your last post was registered under did not show up in any of our logs between the times you indicted. That means the requests from your browser were not making it to TMS's servers.
I don't appreciate this statement. Crash, not our fault. Backups, we'll take the blame but we would of never had the issue without the hack and crash. Repeated downtime; you mean downtime on your end, not ours. If the site is up for all of our other users but you what would you like for us to do? We can't make changes at your ISP and as I've said before they are going to tell us to buzz off if we decided to be nice and call on your behalf.

b. as to the technical stuff I have no idea what you are saying.
c. and like I said, "sorry guys just feedin' back".
If you like, give me an off-TMS-site email (this is why Scott gave me filebeam to verify the server was up) and if it occurs again, I can email someone to find a fix. I surf more than many and although some sites may load slower when traffic is high, what's with the complete inability to load & a 'DNS error'? That has to do with connecting to your address right?

Yes, but its on the hughesnet end. I have hughesnet as well (not by choice, its my only options where I live) and I can tell you they are screwy ALOT. I'll give you an example.
There are two sites I regularly frequent due to having dailies deals on cigars. www.joecigar.com and cigarmonster.com. Now each of those sites have respective parent sites that are the main store front.
All of a sudden not long ago, i couldnt get to any of the sites, the children sites listed above, or the parent sites. I got DNS errors. I tried everything on my end, I used opendns.com server IP's in my home network so I bypassed hughesnet DNS servers, no workie still. Contacted hughes, its something on my end apperently and they tell me to basically F off that theres nothing they can do.
Now mind you I am profiecent in networking and how this whole internet jig works so Im a bit pissed and I know its not on my end especially since I havent changed anything in over a year.
A month goes by, all the while I cant get to the sites, I can walk to my parents house who also have hughesnet like I and they cannot access them either so its not on my end.
Slowly one of the child sites start coming back to being accessible, then the parent. then a few weeks later the other starts adn then teh parent of that site.
Moral of the story, everything you browse too passes through hughesnet proxy servers that you are setup through. If theres an issue or somethign has changed with a website and it hasnt filtered through properly or something of taht nature, nothing you can do will allow you to get to it. Now why they have issue with our site from time to time on the paritcular proxy you are running through, i have no clue, but its the pains we deal with due to having a POS ISP. The moment I have something like DSL become available, I am dropping hughesnet and sending them a nice pic of their modem (that i paid dearly for mind you) burning in my driveway.

Apparently they are stupid like my old phone company. I was with them for 25+ years, bugged em for 4 years for DSL (my rural area is actually within the 3 mile of a switch near the fire house), they ignored and now have lost my business for life.
As to yesterday's downtime, I usually get 505 type messages, so the DNS error was new. And why hughes will load filebeam and not TMS does not make any sense since they are the same server. There are times other sites have difficulty loading when hughes traffic is high (which is most of the time lately), but after a few refreshes - like dial-up - they will finally load. With the exception being TMS out of about 100 of my bookmarked Favs.
