PM changes

Don't know if anyone will see this...

I'd like to suggest a "reply all" function in Personal Messages. It's a royal pain to have to copy-n-past all the names in a PM sent-to list just to make sure everyone sees your response.

Also only being able to PM 5 people seems low. I know that it helps with spamming or whatever, I don't think it should be unlimited either. Of course while 6 or 7 might be OK for me, someone else will complain that 10 isn't enough. I don't know the answer to this one and it's livable now but I wish it was slightly larger.

"Reply to All" is not part of vBulletin, sorry. We've been after them for years to include this functionality, but I don't think they really intended for the PM system to be used for mass communication amongst groups; that's what the forums were for.

More than 5... I'll pass it along. Throw me some numbers that you're looking for.

Honestly, why or how often would you be sending a PM to more than 5 people? I can see it being used for spamming or soliciation purposes if more than 5 were allowed.

I would guess its the SoCal members of POTR sending PM's to everyone in their group. And they have more than 5 members.

To be honest, we ought to shoot the messages in email.

Basically it's this, we like to do little install parties or get-togethers, cruises...etc and there are times that we do want to limit it to a small group of So Cal users and keep it off a public board and often it's more than 5 and typically less than 10. Since we're all frequently on TMS more than email and the PMs are instant we'll resort to this instead of email.

If it's not a function as part of vBulletin, then there isn't much that can be done. If we need to break the PM habit, then that's what we have to do.

Thanks for taking the time to listen.

I know what your saying.
We are trying to get time to upgrade the forums to the newest VB software, in which we can do enchances groups (read: club specific or something of that nature) and will make this alot easier.

Sweet, except for the down time with the upgrade.

Cool, thanks.

If and when you do and you need a test dummy, I'd be glad to help.

Wednesday is the time we've slated, assuming nothing comes up between now and then.

Another VB board I visit has Reply All, but they just recently did an upgrade. Very useful when organizing events!

Thanks, we were going to upgrade to 3.7.4 awhile back, but they just released 3.8.0 so we are going ahead with that.
