OK, if anyone cares... everything getting moved every time I hit the refresh button is getting really annoying. Just saw a thread about a key sticking in the ignition getting moved to GT Tech and Performance... Since the v6 and v8 use the same ignition cylinder it could happen to anyone w/ an 05. That's just one example of many recent ones.

Agreed, but things are getting carried away. I've been on here for nearly a year and haven't seen as many moved threads as there's been in the last week.
I moved it. Reason, key was sticking in a GT, therefore I moved it to the GT Tech section. Sorry you feel that things are "getting carried away". Maybe I tend to pay a lot of attention to this site, especially the 05 section. You think moves are getting carried away, myself and the majority of people think the amount of topics being created in the main section, instead of the proper section is getting carried away. We are working on cleaning this up and as far as I know, at this point as long as people continue to create new topics in the wrong spot we will continue to move them to the proper location.
If you see a topic is moved and you do not necessarily agree with where it was placed let us know. There are several topics that do not fall in a specific category so for now they sit in the main section. I do realize there are some topics that are issues on both V6 and GT (ie: door handles and convertible top issues) so they have not been moved, but when someone posts a specific issue and that person has a V6 or a GT it will be moved to the proper subforum.
Here is something for you to think about. A new member joins and everyone flames the person for not using the search feature. So, that person is currently in the exterior mods section and does a search on "CDC shaker". A few weeks ago that person would have only seen a few results because the rest of the topics were in the main section. Members should be able to go to the proper section to find the information they are looking for. They should not have to go through page after page in the main forum for something that belongs in one of the subforums.
Oh, and the reason you have not seen so many moves in a year is because I am now a moderator
I too have been a member for over a year and have put a lot of thought into the layout of the site. A few of you do not like to see things moved around but so far most people prefer it.

Don't take it personal, it wasn't meant that way. I didn't even know you were the one who moved it. My only suggestion is, that for the rest of us, don't get carried away. It's my opinion that when in doubt as to whether to move something or not, it shouldn't be. There was a thread previously about a car w/ a bunch of exterior mods and a shaker kit. Why put it in just exterior mods? There's been threads of people getting their cars and having them moved to 'Intro's and car photos'... the banana dance has been a friendly tradition of welcoming someone to the site, and instead now they're being sent to a different forum. Maybe the problem isn't that things are being moved, but rather there are too many different subforums. What the heck can you post in the main forum other than ERL questions? Most other things are either about the exterior of the car, the interior of the car, the performance of the car, photos of the car... blah, blah, blah...
This site is great. You, I, and a thousand others have enjoyed it for the last year.
EVERYONE who has an '05 has either a v6 or v8. Therefore, moving posts based on what kind of car the poster owns makes no sense to me. Especially considering the "guts" of the cars are either the same or very similar on both models. Quote: "Most people tend to prefer it."
I hope you're right.
Again, nothing personal. This is the proper forum for feedback and suggestions. That's why I posted my thoughts here... just trying to give my thoughts for improvement.

You guys crack me up... Give John a break! You all complained when I did it, I took some time off, John was made a mod, and he took over the slack from where I left off. Now we are both doing it, and I gotta say things are looking much nicer in here.
I can tell you when its an issue of something that CAN be on both cars, I normally use the original posters car as the reference. How else are we supposed to catorgorize it? We can put it in the "other" section. But, then we get complaints of not being able to find it.
The other thing that just makes me shake my head is... The link to the moved topic stays in the forum it was moved from. So, there are three ways to find the thread. You can search by topic, you can search by posts you've made (unless you make hundreds a day), or you can just go through the topics in the original forum. No matter which route you choose, it takes a matter of 2 minutes to find the topic. I know for a fact, when we move topics to the proper forum, it gets more attention from the people who can contribute the most to the threads.
Does anyone remember the day or so when a bunch of forums were all lumped together? Everyone had a cow.
I would like to make one suggestion. A lot of times we see only complaints, or posts ranting. Rarely do we see suggestions of how to improve. When I was in corporate america, I was Executive Assistant to some pretty powerful men. Thier first statement to me upon hiring me was, "never come to me with a problem. Come to me with the issue, and three solutions. I will decide which is best."
So, how about some solutions?

Hey John, I never thought it was being directed directly towards me. Anyway, here are a few things for you to think about. You may have missed the topic Brad started a long time ago where he wanted people to post new pics of their car in the "Photos of yours" forum, which is the first link at the top of the 2005 page. If people get their cars and rather than post the pics there they create a new topic, well, that topic gets moved to Intros and Photos. As for the "There was a thread previously about a car w/ a bunch of exterior mods and a shaker kit. " Was that my car
That topic was moved to exterior mods because the main discussion of that thread was regarding the looks of the car, hence, exterior mods.
You hit the nail on the head when you said "What the heck can you post in the main forum other than ERL questions?"
That is about all that should be in there, until a subforum is made for all questions regarding ordering, x-plan, evil robot lady, etc.
You then said "Most other things are either about the exterior of the car, the interior of the car, the performance of the car, photos of the car... blah, blah, blah... " and guess what, there are already subforums in place that all of those topics belong in, that is why I am moving those.
You are right in a way about the "guts" of the cars but until there is a better way to moderate that one, it is going to be tricky. So, in that case I will stop moving posts that pertain to both cars unless it definately falls within one of the subforum categories.
As Jessica pointed out, we are keeping links to the posts so it's not like it is very hard for someone to click on the link (no different than if the topic was still there) to be directed to the proper location.
We are all open to suggestions so if you have some on how to improve the site we would love to hear them. Having all posts dumped in one location is not a great idea and I remember when the site was like that.

My intent was not to whine and cry about this, nor play argue with a mod. This forum is for feedback... I left some, and it shouldn't be taken as a personal attack on one's actions. As for the specific suggestion you (Jessica) asked for: When in doubt, don't move.
If someone's thread is "check out this '05" about a car they saw, don't move it to exterior mods just because it's got a wing on the back. Leave it in the main forum for people to see. If someone's thread is "check out what I did" and is specifically about how they put a wing on the back, then move it.
My other suggestion is don't move threads based on the poster's car. In the example mentioned above, if that guy had a v6 and it was put in 'v6 tech and performance' then not too many GT owners would get a chance to help him, because I, like other GT owners I've met with, have no reason to go to that section. There has to be close to 100 different sections to this board... does anyone go and click to see what's new in each section? (If so, I hope you're a mod/admin)
If something falls into more than one catagory, leave it. If someone puts a new wing on the back of their Roush leave it where the original poster put it... chances are it was posted there for a reason. Don't move it to Roush if it's something that the rest of us might enjoy.
Lastly, everyone loosen up. This is supposed to be something we all do for fun. All this clicking is

oh, I guess I should have mentioned that I also do see a lot of new members posting topics in the proper sections, incl Intros and photos, exterior mods, etc etc. I think some people that have been on the forum for a while are just use to dumping any topic in the main section. If we can get new and old members use to posting in the proper location I am sure you will see the benefit in having a clean site.
