Individual state sub-forums?

Just throwing the idea out there, but a way to help better organize local events. Still have it split by region, but have each state under that as a sub-forum. Thoughts?

I really think it's a good idea, it definitely will be easier not only to see what's going on in the local area but also to find and meet other members nearby.

The reason why we havent done that in the past is once you get to a certain point with subforums, people dont use them and they become highly inactive. We've done things in the past and its proven the theory over and over again.

Plus keeping it regional allows folks that dont mind traveling to another state that may be 4-5 hours away a chance to see it if it were dropped out in another subforum. I like the idea, I just dont think it will be utilized like we all expect, especially with the influx of mobile users we now have. Heck look at the general mustang chat area, people dont realize there are generation specific areas of hte forum now.

Having the states broken down allows for more interaction locally, without getting piled on by other states events and discussions. I think keeping the regional stuff above it is crucial for bigger events and topics. In the end, the goal is to help members interact more, whether it be at the state or regional level.

why not have it broke into the four corners of the USA and then sub forum it further from that point?

example

South West
AZ
CA
NV

Here's my suggestion: (Regions in bold, sub forums below)

East:
-East General
-DC
-Florida
-Georgia
-Indiana
-Kentucky
-Maine
-New Hampshire
-Vermont
-Maryland
-Connecticut
-Massachusetts
-Rhode Island
-Michigan
-New York
-North Carolina
-Ohio
-Delaware
-New Jersey
-Pennsylvania
-South Carolina
-Virginia
-West Virginia

Central:
-Central General
-Alabama
-Arkansas
-Illinois
-Iowa
-Kansas
-Louisiana
-Minnesota
-Mississippi
-Missouri
-Nebraska
-North Dakota
-South Dakota
-Tennessee
-Texas
-Wisconsin
-Oklahoma

West/Pacific:
-West General
-Arizona
-California
-Colorado
-Montana
-Nevada
-New Mexico
-Utah
-Wyoming
-Washington
-Oregon
-Alaska
-Hawaii

Canada:
-Canada General
-Alberta
-British Columbia
-New Bruswick
-PEI
-Newfoundland
-Nova Scotia
-Manitoba
-Ontario
-Quebec
-Saskatchewan

International:
-Asia
-Europe
-Australia

I think I caught them all. Start with them split up, and if we have some empty ones, combine them with nearby states/provinces to cut down on clutter.

Dont need to change the regional forums as they are as it would require alot of work sorting through threads that are already in place to put them in their proper state. That'd be a royal pain.

I kind of like a free for all format. Everyman for himself. Dogs and cats living together.

Thanks for leaving Oklahoma out! j/k

from experience on other boards that have them split up like you are suggesting. It is kind of a catch 22. It does give you more local interaction, but it does become inactive like Scothew mentioned. I used the state sub-forum, but rarely went into neighboring state's sub-forums to see what they had going on. Just my .02

With all due respect, it sounds like it would be a giant cluster**** to me.

The solution? Obvious to me. Instead of 50+ sub forums how about doing this in the title:

TEXAS: Meet at Hullabaloos Diner for Spankys!!

There. You've got the region in the title, done deal.

/If you know of Hullabaloos, you know what a Spanky is.
//Even if it IS a kid's item, it's still awesome.
///I just read all 'new posts' and if it has Texas or somewhere I know of, I look at it. So this would work for me.
