I dislike the new 'LIKES"

I wonder why the change? Same thing/format at the GM site I belong to as well. No big deal hitting the icon again to see who 'liked' you but why the extra step?

We are Having The Same Discussion in the Mod & Admin Section. Here is What Jason From Internet Brands Said.

Hey all,

Yes, we've been streamlining and unifying some functionality a bit. The biggest issue we were trying to address was feedback we received network wide that while the list of who Liked content is useful, it could take a lot of space and require more scrolling overall. So now, as you've noted, it's provided in a dropdown menu for those who wish to dig into that detail. An added perk of the new dropdown menu is that it shows the avatars of the folks who Liked the given post, great for those who tend to associate members to their avatars more so than their usernames (it's more common than you'd expect!).

Regarding the removal of the word Like, this was to bridge our desktop and mobile experiences. I believe it's always been a lone thumbs up on mobile due to space constraints, so for consistently in functionality, we're mirroring that here and took inspiration from other major social platforms that did away with text labels for reactions. It's perhaps also worth noting that since mobile never had the label and the majority of TMS's traffic comes from mobile, the potential multiple interpretations of what the icon could signify have already been at play since it was first introduced. That said though, we appreciate the feedback and I'll definitely share it internally!

We Were Not Overjoyed at the Change Either as Far as Admins & Mods.

But Anyhoo I Think That is The Way it is Gonna Be!
