Chat box

I have seen a couple forums that have a chat box on the home page. I was wondering if anybody thought this was a good idea or not. It seemed to work fairly good and didnt seem to slow down the forums at all. Just an idea.

I like it. Most of the regulars here are against it. It's been discussed before, but no harm in bringing it up again.

Why are they against it? I really like the idea of being able to communicate without wasting forum space with banter.

The MCTC guys won't like it though, since all they do is banter like it's messaging anyway.

Problem is content goes away, and there's no way to look it back up again....

that si true but if they are seeking advice we still have the rest of the forum for them to seek it. I think the chat box would be for just normal everyday conversation.

But when you're trying to see what's up with other people, you can't just read through a thread to find out. Plus not everyone is online at the same time. I personally like it on smaller forums, but there's too many people on here.

You do have a point there. yeah this site has alot of people on it. It is nice on the smaller ones. I guess I should have thought more in depth about it first.

Like I said I was just wondering about it. Wanted to get everybody's opinion on it.

But still, I don't think that I'm going to care about my chat with Arin being erased forever never to be found again.

Chat would just be for chatting... not for important stuff.

You make people stick to that and you are a better person than i am. I have people get on AIM and ask me mustang questions all the friggin time. when something becomes conveinent and you stand a better chance of getting your answer teh quickest way, then thats what people are going to gravitate to.
