Nude guy here...Oops,I mean,NEW guy
Howdy everybody, just joined after hearing about this forum on the Rock Auto newsletter.I'm Tim and I just got a 2005 drop top, triple black, leather, premium package,six-shooter/automatic
This is almost my first Stang.I had one of the dreaded Stang II's back in the 90's,a 1978 coupe 302/auto,in diarrhea brown. This is my first convertible ever, after buying cars since 1981
My wife says it's the usual "mid-life crisis" thing, but I said mid-life was about 20 years ago for me.I've always wanted a Stang, not necessarily a ragtop, but I've especially loved the retro styling of the '05-'09 cars since they came out
My last car, which I still have,is a 2003 Crown Vic Police Interceptor.A couple years ago I bought black Bullitt wheels for it,since they're actually designed for the 05-09 Stang.Haven't gotten around to switching them onto the Stang yet, since I like the stock base model wheels it came with, plus there's not a lot of tread left on the Bullitts, especially the back ones
For now the drop's stock, and I'm enjoying the increase in gas mileage compared to the Vic.Plus between the convert and my motorcycle,I've gotten a good tan started just in the last few days
Anyway, this is getting pretty long for a simple intro thread,so I'll sign off now

First welcome and hope you are enjoying TMS. And then there is the mid-life thing, what am I having since I have a 08V6 and a 07 GT. lol. Hope you enjoy your stang. My V6 was my first one with my now 16yr old daughter in mind. It's a auto and she will do fine in it. Hope you have as much fun in yours as I have one mine. Also we like to see pics here. Just saying.

Thanks for the comments.I knew I'd be asked for pics, but the only ones I had so far were so terrible that I deleted them all
I wish I could take decent pics, especially since she's pretty well cleaned up now,but every pic I've ever taken turns out horrible.I think everyone knows what a stock black convert looks like anyway 😜

Mid-Life Crisis? What is that? Wives say it happens to all of us. Longing for those younger days, I guess. So a lot of us here are in the same boat as you. Welcome to TMS and congrats on the new to you vert! Love to see some pictures of the car. Sounds like a beauty.

I just finished cleaning the wheels, tires, and trim, but now the whole body is covered in a thick layer of dust.If I can ever have the whole car clean at the same time,I'll get some pics

I get ya. I clean mine and the next morning the pollen monster got it again. The trick is car cover since my 08 is in the garage and it's to much of a pain to have both in the garage at the same time.

I keep mine garaged, but there's still a ton of dust that blows in on it non stop.I'm usually lucky to have time to do just a little bit of cleaning now and then, never enough time to clean the whole car at once it seems.Tomorrow I hope to get the bug corpses off the windshield, and that'll probably be about it

Sounds like you need to get a California Duster.
You can pickup one really cheap at places like Wally World or Amazon. Saw it for under $12 online. I know it saves me from having to do as many washes on mine. They work really well and will not scratch. They are perfect when a light coat of dust is the only problem. I know my car is not black, but Gray is only slightly better to keep looking clean. I try to avoid washing since I only do mine by hand and my water is not especially soft. But, I will break out the hose and buckets if I get some real dirt and grime or a bunch of dead bug "corpses", as you put it, or it is in need of a coat of wax. A lot of times I just use the duster, then get out the detailer spray & window cleaner to bring back that fresh washed look.
Awe come on, show us some pictures...

Pulled her out into the light to take lots of pics while she's as close to clean as she'll ever get. They turned out halfway decent as far as the lighting and what not.Pretty bad backgrounds for pics, but if I drove to a better location, she'd get covered with more dust, dirt, and bug guts again,so this is as good as it gets
