Greetings from western Oregon--I'm a recently retired Army guy who has a bit of spare time to tinker on my Mustang. I just bought a '13 GT Premium on the X-plan: Sterling Grey, MT-82, Coffin Wheels, Security & Comfort pkg--Added the 401A billet shifter and a pair of Borla GT500 Axlebacks (#11797). I'm looking forward to contributing what I can & learning from the experts here.

2013 SG GT Photos
Took a few quick pix...Just installed the 401A billet shifter (ebay $55.00) and boot ($42.00). Also installed a set of Borla GT500 touring axlebacks I picked up from Amazon's Warehouse Deals for $298.00 delivered (in perfect condition--(!!). The P/N on these is Borla #11797--I called Borla and confirmed that they'd fit on at GT before I bought 'em. Whoa!!! talk about deep rumble--especially on deceleration...wow...just wow...I have to post audio on these.

Um yeah do post a video and how did this deal happen? What rank were you when you retired? I'm from the Northwest and miss the culture up there and the scenery but not some of the folks. Nice ride.

The $289.00 Borla Deal
How did I get a brand new set of Borlas for under 300 bucks? Good question: Initially I found a new pair of 11797s on ebay for 500.00, which I thought was pretty good. I noted that they're GT500 touring exhaust and I couldnt find anybody who installed Borla GT500 exhaust on a GT--probably due to the cost and the fact that Borla tuned these specifically for the 550hp 5.4 liter. So I called Borla and the tech confirmed that they're externally identical to the 5.0 mufflers. He said that they would sound slightly different on a 5.0, but then again everybody is running Ford's GT500 mufflers on their GTs and they sound awesome. I ran a search for the 11797s and found a one-off set at openboxsavings.com for $347.00--however they were out of stock. Then I found this set at Amazon's Warehouse Deals site for $289.00. Amazon has a great return policy--so I took a chance and figured they'd be scratched, dented or have chrome peeling on the tips. When they arrived they had been opened and repacked in a plain brown box that had taken a bit of a beating. Inside the box, however was a different story. The mufflers were immaculate! They were carefully wrapped in paper and the tips were bubble wrapped. Even came with a Borla baseball cap. Fitment was perfect & the install was under an hour.
