New to site - prospective buyer

Hey guys. I'm new to the site but not to mustangs. I had a 2002 V6 back in college. It was a solid car and I had fun with it.

Here is my question. I'm looking at getting back into Mustangs. I'm torn between the two. I would love to have a GT but the prices of 2011+ are more than I can afford. My budget is $20k max.

I've come across a one owner 2010 GT that only has 28k for around $18k. There are also plenty of 2011+ V6 mustangs for well under $20k. I would probably lean towards a 2013-14 V6 since the front end is identical to the GT minus the fog lights.

What are your thoughts? Used 2010 GT or 2011+ V6.

I currently drive a Charger with a Hemi so I love the V8 power. Thanks guys!

What you REALLY need is an 88 GT, stock with only 28K miles. See link in my sig for more details or send PM.

Or, for less than half of that one, get an automatic GT: 88 Unmolested GT automatic with 54,000 miles (one owner) For Sale. Best offer takes it! I hope for a range of $4,000, but I know it's less than $5,000. Consider $5,000 as a buy it now price. This will be sold, so best offer takes it. We need the space, and my son won't drive. New tires, brakes, radiator, water pump front shocks - all to get it ready to be my son's daily driver. No Mods. Message me - Chicagoland north side. I can get it to you anywhere. Runs and drives great. Maroon over red cloth.

My guess is that you might be disappointed with the V6. Sure, the power numbers look good but it won't pull down low like the V8. Best to test drive both to be sure.

The Wifey owned a 2010 GT for two years until she caught the convertible bug. The only problem the car had was the steering rack needed to be replaced under warranty. The car drove, and rode great. The 4.6L was very quick, and returned respectful mpg's. Plus, 28K is low miles for a 2010. That would be my choice. Good luck on your decision, and welcome to the forum.

Welcome, my vote would be for the low mileage 2010 gt, the V8 will be much better and it will also have better resale value down the road.

OP, the difference between acceleration numbers between a 10 Gt with 3:31 gears and a 11 V6 with 3:31 gears is almost the same. The truth is your looking at around maybe 2 tenths of second difference in owning the 10 Gt over an 11 V6. So when it comes too acceleration its basically a dead wash.

Now sound wise, you can't duplicate the sound of a V8 rumble from that 4.6 engine. Since the 10 and 11 models look the same I would recommend you purchasing the 10 Gt over the 11 V6 if its around the same price.
