Good morning everyone,

Just signed up for the forum. My name is Gregg. Retired from Army three years ago and moved to beautiful Florida. I was finally able to buy my first classic mustang to restore. I found a 1965 coupe with matching numbers. It has the straight 6 and 3 speed manual trans. I'm sure I will be asking a lot of questions to everyone about replacing parts. Looking forward to talking with all of you.

Welcome from a former Floridian that retired to NC. Post some photos when you get the opportunity.

Welcome,

Considering it's Almost as Old as I Am Looks Like Some Good Bones and Fairly Straight! Certainly Held Up Better Than Me!

Congratulations.

Beautiful Home Btw!

Curious As To Your Plans?

Original Restoration, Restomod, Barnfind Preserve Etc.

While Everbody Would Go a Different Route Ultimately LIke To See You Go Down The Path Where it Will Be an Enjoyable Fun Project and Not Break The Bank as Well!

I'm an old school guy so I don't really like changing classic vehicles. Plans are to restore it like it just came out of factory. Gonna take a while but going to be a fun project for the weekends.

Sounds Like A Plan!

Here is a Small Suggestion. Do It in Sections as To Be Able To Still Drive it a Bit as Certain Things are Done. It Keeps Interest Higher in My Opinion Vs Blowing a Car Apart into a Million Pieces and Going into Overwhelm. Lot of Projects Like That Get Abandoned But Everybody is Different. Some Just Enjoy the Process of Working on it Time To Time Regardless. Just A Thought!

Get Yourself Some FACTORY Shop & Parts Manuals For Reference. They Will Prove Invaluable & Well Worth The Cost. Repops & Originals Are Out There!

Best Regards,

Kc

From one Army vet to another, thank you for your service... In the meantime, thanks for sharing images and congrats on the recent purchase of your classic "65" Mustang coupe... She looks like she's going to be a really fun restoration project and we'll all be looking forward to your progress from start to completion... Welcome aboard!!!

Welcome Gregg. Great to see your Mustang and great to learn you want to bring her back to original. Six-cylinder 3-speed is a classic early version, but so many of them get converted. Glad you want to bring her back in original form. I applaud that.

When I Started in FORD Parts in The Early 80's You Could Still Get a Lot of Oem Parts For Those Cars! Hell even The 57 Birds Had Stuff Available! These Days Stuff Comes & Go's Too Fast! Of Course They Did Make a Ton of The First Gen Mustangs!
