New Here From NorCal
New Here From NorCal
Hi folks, another Mustang aficionado here checking in from the central coast of California. I was on the old board for a short while and would like to get back into all things Mustangs on the new.
I'm currently getting my kicks with these two ponies:

2008 Bullitt #2132 - mostly a weekend and fun driver. Except for a no-drill front plate holder, it's all stock but maybe some suspension upgrades will be added down the road.

1988 5.0 LX Special Service Pkg. CHP #3035 - I brought this retired cruiser back to life and now the only duty it sees are car shows and special events. You can peruse the restoration album here: http://public.fotki.com/Classicchp/chp3035/
For the future, I'm looking forward to acquiring one of the new 5.0 GTs, make mine a convertible!

Welcome to TMS! Sweet pair of stangs.
Welcome, matey. Two fantastic Mustangs you have there
Are you allowed to drive the CHP car on the road in that guise? In the UK, it's illegal to drive an old cop car with the livery and lights still attached

No, you're not allowed to drive a vehicle like this on the road in California at all. I restored the car in conjunction with the CHP and they let it on the road for only essential trips (to/from shows and events, maintainence, etc.) and only with the markings and lights covered and the regular civilian license plates back on it. Nevertheless, it still manages to attract a good bit of attention in this transit mode:

The shots posted earlier were taken during a magazine photo session done at the dead end of a deserted road one early Sunday morning.
Thanks!

Welcome
I just had my 01 Bullitt down in Monterey on Christmas Eve . . . . . As for the CHP car . . .. . that is COOL! Being a Michigan Native, I really want to see a 5.0 Michigan State Police Crusier . . . . speaking of notch back 5.0s . . . .. . has anyone seen one in perfect condition for $6K????? It doesn't have to be a police car either!

If it's MSP Mustangs you like, here's a '92 that's been restored to perfection by a gentleman from Indiana:

See photos and more information on this MSP car here:

Finding your own MSP Mustang in any condition will be a difficult task. That agency purchased only 14 units in 1989 and 20 units in 1992 for a paultry total of only 34 SSP Mustangs to ever be in their fleet. (In contrast, my '88 Mustang is 1 of 260 units acquired by the CHP for that model year and 1 of 2,508 total purchased during the entire '82-'93 SSP run.) Only a handful of MSP Mustangs are known to still exist today but you never know what might turn up in a barn someday!
Interestingly enough, that particular MSP Mustang shown above once shared a California garage with my CHP car while both were in unrestored condition and owned by another party:

But that's another story....
trouble with the law??
Thank you! Bullitts are a rare commodity down this way and not often spotted on the roads. I do see a True Blue '01 occasionally on my way to work though.
