New Guy First Mustang
Hey everyone,
My name's Mark, I'm 21 from Atlantic Canada and am picking up my new (to me) 2011 Mustang GT California Special in the next few days. Really didn't plan on picking one up but lost my previous summer car (2014 Fiesta ST) to a storage fire last month after custom ordering it from the factory in April. Had it nicley modified dynoing at 219whp and 290ft-lbs and since insurance wasn't covering the full value of the car (looong story) couldn't bring myself to go all the way back to stock to start over again.
Actually looked at and test drove this exact car and really liked it last summer when it first got on the lot but at that time wasn't finacially possible to trade in a then 2 month old car for it so i passed. Went into my local dealer to pay off the ST and they mentioned it was still for sale but in storage for the winter if i was interested and after some haggling got a call from them a week later saying they'd do my price so i accepted.
It's got a weird stripe kit that i haven't seen before (maybe someone can shed some light on it) ,the 6 speed manual, 3.73 gears, and the shaker 1000 system.
Plans are to throw a Borla S-Type axle back on it right away then move to a shifter, long tubes with X-pipe, lowering springs, and maybe a supercharger in the far future. Very excited to put it lightly!
and a few pics of the old ST
and my current project, a 1971 Datsun 510 which is just waiting on an exhaust and all the snow to be gone. It has a 2.1 Long Rod motor with dual carbs, ported head with bigger valves, huge cam, a Z car 5 speed trans and numerous other stuff. Not too much left stock and proud to say everything done to the car (apart from boring the block) was done by my hands alone.
Putting my homemade coilovers on in this pic, hence the old suspension pieces everywhere haha
Before i lowered and PlastDipped it. Actually took the dip back off a few days ago, kinda like the ratty look more for now
Looking forward to learning lots from the community and sharing progress of my build when i finally get the car home!

You'll enjoy the Mustang! Sorry about the Fiesta though. That Datsun is cool. I love that it has multiple carbs. My '65 Corvair has four single barrel carbs that function like a standard 4 barrel.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!
Tomorrow is the big day, going in at 11 to finish the paperwork and get the car flatbedded home. Was hoping to have it home by now but we've been getting nailed with one storm after another which has been shutting everything down for weeks.
Pretty Excited!

congrats on the stang, from one Canadian to another.
Love the colour and stripe package. I am not sure if you could order a C/S like that from the dealer, it looks dealer installed though, or perhaps purchased through American Muscle? It's sharp though, it's the Lemans Stripe package with side skirt stripe. This style was originally found the 1960's GT350's.
Looks great.
That Datsun is sweet too.

From the limited time i've had with the mustang (drove it for maybe 20min last summer) they seem to be totally opposite ends of the scale.
The Fiesta just felt like an extension of your body, it almost read your mind when it came to taking corners and handling in general. Add a COBB stage 3 tune with supporting mods and you had a car that would smoke the tires all the way through 2nd and a bit into 3rd, just ran out of steam as you got to higher speeds.
The Mustang on the other hand just has so much power (by far the most powerful thing i've ever owned) kinda scared myself when i really walked on it in first when i drove it before. In the Fiesta WOT in first had some torque steer and you smoked the tires but it was pretty managable, not so much with the Mustang lol it was just insane (in a good way). have yet to test the handling any real amount but it definitely feels bigger...probably because it is haha.
FInally got her home yesterday too! Got delayed again because the tires on the car were pretty bad. Got the dealer to throw on some Goodyear Eagle RS a2's for free so coulnd't complain!

I smell a build list coming....be warned that its addictive and we (TMS or any member excluding your self) are not liable for any sudden increase in your urge to mod your car, build or upgrade your car in any fashion, your wallet will most likely hate you and if theres a CFO in your family may want to not tell them...yet...but they will most likely hate you or your car as it will become the lady of the family real quick...
you have been warned....

Well haven't been on here in awhile so figured i'd give an update since i'm in a position to start the build soon! All i ended up getting was a roush axle back so far but the plan is for a set of long tube headers, ford performance shifter, a cai, boss manifold, and maybe a set of cams (still looking into them). Also on the hunt for something to make the handling a little better, still used to my tiny japanese cars haha.
On that note i bought another Datsun, a 1974 620 pickup and got my 510 running and driving with the bored and stroked motor and got it to a few shows over the summer, even won a few awards with it!. It's by no means done but then are any of our projects really ever finished lol
and the stang, still gorgeous as always
