New 5.0....Again!

Well, I had a sweet 2011 Kona Blue GT that I bought last fall and I traded that for a black 2012 Shelby GT500 about 5 months ago. (I had to have a Shelby!) Awesome power but the wife and I really wanted a ragtop and she could not drive it because it was a manual, so I traded the Shelby in on a new 2012 Black 5.0 Premium GT ragtop with the auto, leather seats with the cashmere stripe, factory hood scoop-pedestal spoiler-side scoops-rear insert bewteen the tail lights, comfort package, reverse sensing option, etc. No miles to speak of yet, but still plenty of power and will be a hoot to drive with the top down in the summer. Gonna do a K&N drop in air filter and put on a set of Hushpower axle backs that I have new in the box.

I loved the Shelby's awesome power but no real good place to use it. Therefore, I was not using the 550 HP. Plus, I did not want any speeding tickets and my driving record is clean. I pay about $500 a year full coverage on the new 5.0 for insurance which is not bad. Of course at 57 years old and having a F-150 and a Explorer too, the rates get lower the more vehicles on the policy.

Anyway, just wanted to say "HI" and I will get some pics up soon. Really like the black Mustangs and even though they get dirty fast, they look so darn good when cleaned up!

Regards,

Phil

Congrats on the new Ride. A friend of mine gave me a ride in his 11 GT/CS Ragtop this summer and I enjoyed it.

FYI You can get a Speeding Ticket in a Prius. It is not the car but the driver lol

Thanks and sweet looking GT500!!! Love the color combo! As far as the speeding ticket, yes your right. However, that supercharger whine and the 6 speed was very addicting, to me anyway...LOL!!!

Wow you had a 2011 GT to a 2012 GT500 now to a 2012 GT? Holy smokes! That's a lot of money to be jumping from those cars lol. Congrats on your new purchase, the black looks great! Let's hope you stick with this one for a while

Very nice! The scoop, spoiler, and wheels really set it off! Add a light bar and you're set.

Hi Josh,

I get X-Plan and am pretty good at waiting until a good bargin comes along. Without going into a lot of detail, I did not get hurt too bad on the deals and the Shelby was bought for $45,000. The new GT almost retails exactly for that, so I am still doing ok making an even trade!

Now, I need to keep this one! Just put a set of Hush Power axle backs on this afternoon and now it sounds deep & mellow and like a V8 should, IMHO!

I'm Happy

Regards,

Phil

Thanks! I like it a lot and the wife can also drive it this next summer with the daughter with the top down and that will make them happy too!

Hi Charles,
The wife has some loss of feeling in her feet due to being a diabetic so she really can't trust herself with clutch operation. It is called diabetic neuropathy. Soooo, I figured that the auto was a good option. Plus, the Shelby would of eventually landed me a ticket because it is so easy to drive it fast.
And, after going out for dinner or to the casino, if I want a few Miller Lites, she couldn't drive us home, so an auto was a pretty good option

I had fun with the Shelby for a while and I wanted one for a long time. It was a hoot to drive but driving a company truck for work, I can't afford tickets. And the Shelbys as we know are so darn easy to drive fast..... I was having a tough time driving even close to the posted limits!

Anyway, after 33+ years of marriage to a great wife, I wanted her to have some Mustang "fun" as well...!

Josh,

Just a K&N drop in filter and then some chrome rims. I love black & chrome and am old school so some chromed 5 spoke mags may be headed my way in the spring. I still love the looks of the Crager SS mags, just not sure how they look or if they even make them in 19 or 20 inch sizes.

What have you done to yours?

Nice plans so far

So far I have done the Roush AB's and the Ford Racing Springs 1 inch in the front and 1.5 in the back. I'm really considering getting a tune from American muscle. You should look into that as well, it really does wonders for the autos.

LOL!!!! Yes we do know and you are right, Richie. I had a couple of slight scratches in the clear on my hood scoop and just polished them out by hand. It looks great now! No better color, for me anyway than Black (& Chrome!)

Take care neighbor!
