New 2008 Mustang GT Owner from Qatar
Hi all,
I’ve been on the forum since February and it was so helpful for me in buying the Mustang..
After almost 4 months of waiting, I finally collected my 2008 GT Mustang from Ford dealer on 09-July, could not be happier
I ordered the car last March. At that time, Ford agent in here had over 5-6 Mustangs but with automatic transmission and my request was MANUAL. They ordered it for me and the order was pending in the system for almost a month and then it was confirmed.
You can see the specification of the car in my signature.
I had the following impressions in the last couple of days: comfortable suspension, car is more stable (compared to the older model: 1999-2004), interior is simple (options and buttons are easy to use) and satisfactory to me. Did not push it hard till now but I can feel the power at low ends... simply: I AM VERY HAPPY
I was afraid to have the 3rd gear issue as raised by some owners lately, but did not feel any. It is smooth to shift and the shifter (gear ****) it self is some thing nice in the car, I had positive comments from my friends on the gear ****..
Initially, I am intending to keep it stock (no modifications), but who knows…
Today is my birthday, so I consider the Mustang the most valuable present for my self in my birthday.
Oh by the way, I will be in the US (Houston, Texas) on 19-Jul for 7 days for a training course in a company that we represent here in Qatar. I hope I can see many Mustangs over there. While I am there, I am planning to get the following also for my car: pony emblem engine cover, stain cup holder bezel and the stain e-brake handle to match with the gear ****. I will save come shipping by picking them while I am in the US.
I have taken some fast photos, sorry for the quality and the location (my house parking), I will try to take some photos in open areas and post them for you mates..
ENJOOOOY…

Thanks mates...
Well, Mustangs (and other muscle cars) are not that rare over here, recently we had many people are buying Vettes (C6 & Z06) and we have few GT500 Mustangs.. many people are waiting the Camaro and Challenger to arrive here.
As I said, I am not intending to have any mods but who knows.. I know that simple mods on the Mustang can make big difference but once you start modding, it will never end noting that I have another car working heavily on modifying it..
Now, I ma runing it for a short break in period and then I will ride the 300 horses

New Mods / Photos
Hi all,
Just an update.. had the 1st service (3,000 mile or 5,000 km) last week..
Also, had some simple mods (non performance) on the car as follows:
1- Windows tint, 30% around the car, brand: LampJohnson
2- Engine pony emblem cover (did not order the sport appearance package when I ordered the car but I liked the engine cover)
3- SHR tru-billet cup holder bezel, stain finish with GT logo engraving
4- SHR tru-billet e-brake handle, stain finish
Looking to get the shorty antenna.
Had some new photos and here we go:
We had a meeting for cars over here a month ago.. there were many Mustangs.. my car beside the GT500 and the Saleen S281 Supercharged
Vettes standing against out Stangs

Yeah.. Vette (and especially Z06) is the most preferred sports car at the moment here.. we even got one ZR1 and waiting to see her on the streets
However, we have many Mustangs here and they are more practical to use.. many are heavily modified as well

Hani,
What's the power adder of choice for the modified Mustangs in Qatar? Supercharger or Turbos? What brands do you see? Saleen, Whipple, Paxton, Vortech, Helion, etc? Do you have a speed limit on highways?

Hi Gary,
Power adders: more superchargers, less turbos
There is a turbo S197 Mustang which is faster than the C6 Z06 as I heard (I did not see).. but it really fast..
Most of the supercharged Mustangs have the Procharger supercharger (which is centrifugal and not twin screw).. we have few GT500s and they are becoming more popular..
Also, there are some fast Mustangs with only bolt-ons (no forced induction).. these are many.. you can hardly find a stock Mustang over here.. the problem is that they are all automatics.. I am really happy that I went for the manual (despite I had to wait for 4 months to get it).. I was able to beat few automatic Mustangs with tune, CAI, and cat-back.. stock autos are easy for me..
Maximum speed on highways is 120 km/hr (75 mph) but as usual, street racing happens when and where possible..

Well, I would rather wait to see the power level of the regular GT Mustang in 2010/2011 and then decide.. but if Ford is putting 400hp in the GT in 2011, then I will go supercharged for sure
Meanwhile, I would enjoy being one of the few stock manual transmission Mustangs in Qatar
I was in Houston, Texas during July (just after a week from getting my Mustang) and seen many Mustangs over there

There are alot of Mustangs over here. Especially in Texas. But most of what I see it V6 Mustangs and stock GT's. We have an occasional GT500. Saw a beautiful Torch Red GT500 converitlbe with stripe delete and black soft top a few weeks ago. Most of the V6 and other GT owners don't really do much other than drive their Mustangs. There are a bunch of modified SN95 Mustangs aound here. Cobras, Terminators, etc.
