Hello all! My name is Steph. I'm from Southern Ohio. I purchased my first Mustang on Valentines Day. It's my first "new" car, and I'm more than happy. It's a 2007 Vista Blue V6 with pony package. I was hoping to get some advice. The only mods I have done (other than a few cosmetic ones), I dropped a K&N air filter in and I'm currently waiting for my local fix it guy to install the NGK platnium plugs, JBA wires and Screamin Demon coil I ordered. Are there any other "simple" mods I can do for better performance and MPG? And I have some unsightly blemishes on my wheels. Any advice for getting those pretty again? Any advice is greatly apprecited! Thanks and hello!

Hey steph and welcome to TMS.

First mod you might want to do is drop a tune into her. That will drastically improve your throttle response, remove all the restrictions on the engine and THEN you'll see what your pony is really made of

How are you enjoying your first mustang?

It has been amazing! My last (and first) car was an '00 Dodge intrepid that had 200K miles and a boat load of problems, so as you can imagine upgrading to this dream machine was awesome =) In fact I forsee myself as having a mustang in my driveway forever lol One of the local mechanics suggested a tune. Now will that affect my Warranty? Thanks for the info!

I'm glad your loving your mustang. They are all amazing cars. I suggest you start reading up on the boards around here about tunes. They cant void your warranty if they can prove that the tune was the cause of the problem. Tuning has the ability to run on the "tune" version and many people tune the car back to "stock" for warranty work. Just running a tune it's highly unlikely that anything could happen because of the tune. Especially if you get your tune from a reputable tuner.

Welcome to TMS!

that's a beautiful car! It looks like the whees have some road rash/finish flaking; if that's the case, then shy of replacing them, it'll never be gone. Is that stuff on the surface, or into the wheel surface?

Welcome! As a native of Buffalo NY I can tell you without hesitation that the wheel issues you have are due to chipping of the finish and corrosion getting underneath. This is the standard reason for having winter wheels in that end of the world. The only way to fix that is to strip off the finish and polish the metal underneath. Time consuming / expensive.

Better option! Look around and find a set of someone's takeoff wheels for a summer set and keep those for winter. Or, if you're bucks up, get some custom wheels for summer.

They're in Houston, but I happen to know someone with a perfect set of take off wheels like that.

Thanks for the welcomes! Dread53 is right, it looks like it's in the metal in places, other spot look more like "scuffs". I may very well do that, buy a set for summer. I'd like the same wheels, pretty fond of them lol Where's the best place to get a tune? I've seen some on American Muscle. Thanks for all the info guys!
