Just bought new mustang . Need help please
New to forum so please bare with me. Just bought a 1995 mustang gt with 43k orginal miles. Been sitting in someones garage for a long time. Car is extreamly clean. I noticed that the clutch catches really high on the pedal. Clutch doesnt apear to be slipping at all. I highly doubt someone could burn the clutch disc up in 43k miles. I just odered a bbk cable kit? Could it possably be the cable? Any feedback would be great.
If you don't know, here's info: Pull the clutch pedal and it'll click out and way up towards you. Now push it in. Should be able to do this seated in the car with your foot, btw. That'll adjust the clutch cable. You'll hear it click as it adjusts. No click, it thinks it's adjusted to the right place. If that's not good enough for you, you can also crawl under the dash and find the hook that does the adjustment and manually set the location of the adjustment that way. The two pawls and hook lever are on the inner side (towards the accelerator pedal) of the clutch/brake assembly under the dash. So right side of the brake pedal. Rod goes across to the pedal from the pawls.
Just google for '1995 Mustang GTclutch adjustment' and you'll find plenty of articles on that.
While the cable might be the issue, there's no other adjustment in the system unless someone's put in an aftermarket setup on that clutch pedal, or the wrong cable (too short). If the cable's short, that'd cause the early engagement. If it's long, you'd never get the clutch to disengage. The clutch being worn out won't change the engagement points, it'll either work or not, and if it is worn, it'd likely be a very deep pedal engagement feel.
Overall, I don't think it's the cable itself, but something else. Maybe the clutch fork or the throwout bearing is having an issue. Or someone's put in an aftermarket clutch that's got a different engagement height, but I kinda doubt that.
Hope that helps, good luck, and welcome to the forums! Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Thank you for the reaponse. I tried lifting on clutch pedal but nothing happend. Not getting any throw out bearing noise or any problems shifting eather. My last mustang was a 91 gt with an aftermarket clutch. Maybe im just use to that clutch, it use to grab real close to floor. I havent driven this car a lot because there is still salt on the roads in newhampshire. Maybe by driving it more i could better diagnose it.
