Help
Hi I’m new to the mustang form but not the life style. I have a 2007 mustang Gt and when I got the car it’s was driving 100%.but when I get on the highway the o/d light will start flashing and I don’t know what it is. Changed out all the fluids inside the car and it didn’t fix anything. The o/d light only comes on the highway. I can drive around all day inside the city and the O/d light will not turn on. Any ideas the car shifts fine. It’s not slipping and it’s not hesitating at all i can still turn overdrive on and off just fine too

Mr. Obvious says: Your transmission has a problem! Oh Noes!

There'll probably be a code stored for the problem, and that'll tell you what you need to do. Could be a speed sensor, could be a bad solenoid, could be a few things. You'll need to grab the code to know what to do next. It may not be readable with just any scan tool, though.
It would be best to go to a good shop for transmissions, whether that's a good shop overall or a specialist shop, and get the thing checked out. And quick, I'd say, because usually you let a whirring thing stay unhappy it fails miserably and much more expensively.
What it sounds like is the thing won't go into overdrive on the highway. You'll probably be seeing the car go fine, but the RPMs are higher than they used to be. All other driving doesn't need the car to get into overdrive...?
Maybe you're not getting in an RPM/speed range it'll need to...? Can't say I for sure know how the 5R55S works regarding efficiency and gear selection, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if that's what was happening. And it's probably the servos that're worn out, seems to be a common failure on these transmissions, and there's an updated fix for it. Or so them intarwebs are pointing me directionally speakin'...
In any event. Get thee to a good transmission place and get it figured out lest you bust the thing being undecided. Unless'n you're a transmission fixer upper, then just yank it and rebuild it with updated parts. I'd proabably be silly and do that m'self, but then, I got a manual so I don't have to worry about such things as worn out servos.![Yes](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/yes.gif)
/Worn out clutches, though, that's another issue...![Stick Out Tongue](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
//And exploded timing chain guide due to tensioner failure that people sorta fibbed about it not being an issue when I asked locally and didn't do my diligence and research, so I didn't actually know what's up, and now I'm... ugh. It's a thing. Soon(tm)...
