First Mustang
I found this forum a couple of weeks ago. I find myself coming back a few times a day now.
I always wanted a 1967 Mustang coupe to restore as a project car. I met a girl who restored one herself when I was taking a night class at the local community college. She gave me a catalog that had every part that you could order new. I was impressed. She had just restored the interior and the car was just awesome.
That was a long time ago, and while the desire to do this has never left, I just never had the time or space for it.
So this past summer I started shopping for a new Mustang. I walked into a dealership in July and drove their only car, a 2013 Black GT. Being it was the only car they had it was racking up miles. The salesman came with me and the drive was short. I went back the following week and had an opportunity to explore the car, while it was parked in.
I wanted to compare it with the v6. I'm a commuter and drive a minimum of 80 miles a day. The v6 gets pretty decent milage which makes it acceptable as a daily driver. I had to drive about an hour to find a 2012 v6. The salesman handed me the keys and I got to test drive it on my own. It was a great experience.
I went back on August 2, 2012 to order my car after finding an Internet special at a competing dealership. The price seemed fair after building in on Kelly's Blue Book and Edmunds. After reading the fine print in the advertisement I wasn't able to get the Nav, but settled on the other options.
So I ordered the v6 Premium Automatic with the Pony Package, the reverse sensing/security package, the comfort package, the rear view camera, and the all weather mats. I picked Deep Impact Blue for my color.
The car is supposed to be here next Saturday.
This will be my fourth new car and my first new American car. My first car ever was a 1974 Firebird. My new Mustang is being built with memories of this car. Here are some pics -

Thanks for the warm wishes. I really can't wait to start taking pictures of my own car. I've never had the chance to see my color in person. I take pictures of every Mustang I see now.
I only had two short test drives so I'm looking forward to some quality time with my new car.
I went to visit the business manager today and spoke with my salesman. The car comes in Saturday and he said I can take it as long as the insurance goes through by then. I'm just hoping it arrives early enough so they get it detailed and out the door.
