Hi guys I’m in New Zealand
i have a 2008 Shelby Super Snake that I have rebuilt
but I’m having trouble finding someone to help me get it running as the ECU was damaged
I have another ECU out of a 2008 Mustang Shelby GT500 same part number but the Catch Code is different
im looking for some way of getting hold of the program for Catch Code NBU5 which is what I’m told I need to make the car run
all the electrics are from the Mustang GT500 but I need a new program to dump onto that cars ECU to make the super snake motor run
can anyone help me

The Above Link Has The As-Built Codes For Cars By Vin. A 2008 Gt-500 Ecm Will Only Work or Function in a 2008 Gt-500 So Sounds Like You Have Correct Ecm. I Believe What you Will Get By Vin Number Will Be The As-Built as Ford Built The Car Which Should Start Operate The Vehicle But Depending on Mods Could Cause Issues. However Depending on Super Snake Mods The Final Tune Would Likely Be Different. That Maybe If Still Available Something To Get From Shelby American. If You Want To PM Vins on Both Vehicles I Can Do a Little Digging on The Ford End and See If I Can Get any Helpful Info. It is So Hard To get a Correct, Good Ecm For a GT-500 Thee Days! I Know! I Have an 07!

Car Won't Start Without PATS Keys Being Reprogrammed as Well!

I Was Working Deep on Locating One For an 07 Awhile Back & Trying To Recall All the Details of The Ecm Codes Etc. on The Gt-500 So Give Me a Bit To get My Old Noodle To Recall it All!

If Possible I Would Like To See Entire ID# Stickers on Both Ecms as Well!

FYI Actual OEM Part Numbers Differ a Bit From ID# Number on Ecm.

Ok, It is Showing Some Early 2008'sI Don't Recall That From My Earlier Search. The Nbu5 But Used in all 2007's From What I have Been Told They Won't Interchange From The NBU5 to the Sxh1 if That is What you Had In Car Originally. Can't Recall Exactly Why. Getting an 07 As Built is easy Enough to Try, But Be Advised it May Be a No Go! Anyhoo I Can Dig Deeper if You Like With Your VINS & Stckers if You Like!

Also I Found No Info Indicating Car Was a Super Snake. I Know The Shelby GT's Had a Reference To Different Ecm Programming in Ford Database. Does Not Mean it is Not a Super Snake Simply Means I Found No Reference Where I Have Looked so far!

While I Have Not Got a Response From My Source I Worked With on The Gt-500 Ecm Search Awhile Back I Did a Google AI & This Seems Very Familiar. If You Were Going To Experiment With the 2007 Ecm I'm Wondering If Using The 2007 As Built Info & VIN For Cluster, Bcm & Ecm Would Get Er Going Or Try & Update To The 2008 As Built & VIN on The 2007 Ecm.

Another Thought Your Initial Question Was Getting The 2007 As Built Which I Would Think Was Already On The Donor ECM. In Which Case an Attempt Could Be Made To Program Pats Keys Using 07 Pcm. Even if Unsuccessful It May Provide Error Data To Continue Course of Action.

Another Issue is I Know There are Some Slight Wiring Changes Under Dash From 07 to 08 Due To Addition of Optional HID Lights & Ambient Lighting. Regardless if Car Equipped Wiring Harnesses Used Are Different. May or May Not Be Issue But Worth Knowing!

Ideally a 2008 Ecm With Same Catchtag Would Be Way To Go But I Do Know How Difficult They are To Locate! Of Course My Ford Parts Cataloging Says The 08 Part Numbers Superceed to 09 Part Numbers Which Would Seem To Indicate a Bit More Cars Out There To Provide a Good Used One. That Supercession Info Was FORD Info Which is The Most Reliable But Not Imperfect!

I Will Add That When I Was Searching For an ECM and Tried Every Source I Could That I Even Reached Out To Old Contacts at FORD I Had From 35 Years at Working at The Dealership Level. Owning an 07 Gt-500 I Was More Than Concerned That I Might Need One Someday.I Won't Go Into Detail But Will Simply State I Was Politely Told They Could Not Help or Just Flat Ignored. Pretty Crappy Deal For FORDS Iconic Car which Can Become Yard Art By Lack Of Availabilty of a Fairly Often Needed Critical Component! The Current Source Being Used Parts Which Barely Ever Become Available after a Car gets Wrecked!

Talked To Many a ECM Supplier and They Say No Go! Can't get Parts Etc!

Hopefully in the Future Things Will Come Around But For Now This is The State of Affairs!
