2015 demo car negotiation

Hi all- new to the forum and hoping to become a newly minted 2015 5.0 driver soon! Would appreciate some insight into demo car negotiation from those in the know. Found a great 2015 with everything I'm looking for, it is a demo with 6K miles. From photos it looks absolutely pristine. Any insight in to how far this can knock the MSRP down? Thanks much!

Welcome to the forums!

Anywhere from 1000-2000. A 20 cent per mile estimation on 6000 miles is $1200 off. Might get more, might get less.

However, bear in mind that demos aren't typically supposed to have that many miles, but somwhere between 1000 and 3000 miles... although in bigger cities with longer commutes it could be more, of course... and this may have actually been a program car, or 'worse', used for.. um... spirited driving as part of a training school program (that does happen.) Or the GM decided to visit relatives WAAAY outta state or something.

It's fully warrantied, of course. So that's going for you. Just be sure to get all the information about where those miles came from. And if they give you a disclaimer to sign, well... I'd be walkin' on that one.

The difference in price might be minimal considering the only thing you're taking off is the miles (however they were driven), otherwise, it's a new car to the dealer and the law. No matter what's been done to it.

I'd probably take the hit and buy one that's not a demo, but that's just me.

Just get a new one......that could be 6,000 miles of "beating the crap" out of it....I agree with other post, they probably won't knock that much off as technically it is a new car....

Yes...new. You want to be the first person to fart in it.

That would explain the previous spirited driving.

Thank you for the thorough reply, I really appreciate it. Knowing that only 1-2K could come off the price makes me stop in my tracks... The cost is already inflated with more packages than I have need for. (Almost 7k worth, ouch!)

Was really hoping for a deeper discount, but I'm a realist and see the value in just buying a traditional new car.

This would be a long drive to just see the thing- thank you for saving me from a dead Saturday eating gas station hot dogs and driving to & from the mountains in the same I rolled up in :-)

It really depends on the dealer and how much they want to unload it. When my wife and I bought our 2012 demo with 6700 miles on it in April 2012 we got a great deal. We had to drive 600 miles to Kansas City, but it was worth it. It's a loaded GT Premium with nav and everything so the sticker was 41k. There were 4500 in rebates at the time, and demos qualify for all the rebates since they've never been titled. After negotiating, we got it for 31,500 minus the 750 brochure rebate so 30,750 out the door for a 41k car, plus taxes which we paid after we got the car home. The 6700 miles on the car didn't bother us so much then. I know you're looking at a 15, but at the time we got ours it was a current model, so the principal is the same. Good luck.

Thank you for posting. The miles don't bother me, the price does. Yes, I was hoping for a 15-20% discount in the range you received for your car. Interesting. Let's see how Saturday shakes out and I'll let you all know if I make it to the mountains :-)

Hi all! I skipped the demo car and bought true new at my local dealership. Negotiated down 13.4% from MSRP.

2015 black convertible 50th. It is absolutely gorgeous and so much fun to drive!

Thank you for your comments- it helped me make this decision and I am so happy for it!
