2010 Mustang New Member Lost Keys

Hello everyone! My name is Lisa, I live in South Texas, very close to the beach! I have a 2010 mustang V6 and just my luck when I paid it off the place said they don’t have a spare key 😡. I’ve had to tape the key I have to keep the chip from falling out! My son ordered me a plain key which from reading it will only lock/unlock the car. This might be a ridiculous question but could I take the chip out of old key and put into the new key?

Here is the Lost Keys Write Up I Did Some Years Back.

I will Tell you That Back in the Day Some Dealers Would Put a Hokey Anti Theft Device in Some Cars That Defeated the Factory Pats Setup and Then They Took the Chip or Key and Glued it inside The Steering Column Flange Close to Tranceiver and at that Point a Regular Key Could Be Used. Not The Best Way to Go But an FYI! It Was Done on The Earlier Spade Type Keys of About 5 Years Prior.

The Cheapest {Safe Bet} is a Local Locksmith That Will Program the Older Lolipop Keys That Don't Have Remote's Built in. If Money is The Issue. Your Car Likely Has the Older IKT Style at the Present. Losing the One Key and or Chip Gets Things Expensive Quick.

Lolipop Key

NEWER STYLE IKT
