2007 Ford Mustang Hello!

Hi! My name is Bri and I drive an 07 Ford Mustang. Blue with white stripes. I have had it since 2015. I’m here to see other cars but to also get some help with mine. I’m currently having an issue with my license plate light. It has gone out and I’ve tried replacing the bulb- doesn’t work. I was looking everywhere for where the fuse might be in case it’s that. I looked all in the manual and have been looking online. Nothing. Does anyone here know where I need to look to see why my tag light might not be working? Thanks!

@brianajohnson22

The Tag or License Lamp Should Function As Follows from the FORD Shop Manual.
Normal Operation

The smart junction box (SJB) is provided voltage from the bussed electrical center (BEC) through circuit 1523 (DG). The SJB sends a voltage reference signal to the headlampswitch through circuit 1401 (BK/LG). When the headlamp switch is placed in the PARKING LAMPS ON position, the SJB provides voltage to the parking, license plate and sidemarker lamps. The lamps are grounded through circuit 1205 (BK).

So If Your Parking Lamps & Sidemarker Lamps Are On You Likely Have a Bad Socket For the Tag Lamp or Possibly a Chaffed Wire in the Trunk or Somewhere in Between. Are Your Other Lamps Functioning Correctly in Parking Lamp Setting?

Also Make Sure You are Using Regular Bulb Not LED Which Can Sometimes Cause Issues!

KC

NOTE

I DELETED OTHER DUPLICATE THREADS, THIS THREAD SHOULD DO THE TRICK!

Depending on the climate the car has been in it could also be as simple as corrosion in the socket where the bulb plugs in. Follow what KC said above, and also check for power at the socket with a volt meter if you have one or can use one.

The SJB (secondary junction box) they mention is located behind the kick panel in the passenger side footwell. The S197 Mustangs had an issue where, if the drainage for the cabin air filter got plugged up, water would collect, overflow and eventually get to the SJB causing corrosion there.

If you pull the cover and see water damage/corrosion on the SJB, that might be the culprit.

Hello and welcome aboard! I fully agree with all posted responses and would therefore recommend following their advice... In the meantime, perhaps you wouldn't mind posting some images of your "07" Mustang.
