1990 Mustang GT Low Miles 27 K New Owner

Hello all. I am the new owner of a low mileage (27K) 1990 Mustang GT. It is totally stock and I would like to keep it that way. I will have several questions in this forum like is Synthetic oil ok to use? Or, what are the recommended tire pressures, to start. I am looking forward to this forum! Eugene

Hello and welcome aboard! Regarding using Synthetic oil, as long as your vehicle is beyond the required break-in period, which it is, you can by all means proceed with using Synthetic oil... As for the recommended tire pressures, Ford recommends between 32-35 lbs. psi according to the owner's manual... In the meantime, we all would be very interested if you could post some pics of your "90" Mustang GT as I'm sure we would really enjoy seeing some images of your ride... Meanwhile, hope the info provided, addresses your questions...

Welcome to TMS! Love to see your car.

Unless you have custom wheels and tires (Non-Stock) you should be able to get the recommended tire pressure for that car from the drivers side door frame stickers. That is if they are still there... But 32-35 lbs. should cover it.

Good find, Steve! I totally forgot about checking the driver's side door frame stickers for recommended tire pressure...

Been a long time since I had one, but pretty sure I used to run 32 front and 30 rear on the Fox bodies I had. After putting a lot of miles on foxes, 2lb less in the rear seemed to work out better for me because they were so light in the rear. Rode better and seemed to hook a little better. Didn't notice a difference in wear.

welcome to the forum

the way I look at it, synthetic oil is "cheap insurance" -- maybe you don't really "NEED" it, but it makes me feel better when I'm a little late on the oil changes

but I would still go by the normal recommended oil change schedule, for me that's usually around 5K miles, I would not recommend the extreme extended oil life like it says on the synthetic oil bottles
