XBOX 360 owners unite
Half of what the video game industry has done in the last decade is beyond dumb. They're trying to cut out the middleman. Going online-only is a matter of time, and I fully expect this to take place as quickly as possible. Many PC games already require a persistent online connection to run; it's not that difficult to see consoles going this direction. After all, who's going to NOT buy one just because they need an internet connection to operate it? The internet is as ubiquitous as cable/satellite tv these days. I think it happens, and I think it will happen with this next xbox and the PS4.
It makes sense that they would. Cable companies already are with movies. The game developers loose a lot of money because of places like game stop. If they can cut that out, it would be a big profit increase for them and probably microsoft.
True, its a rumor, but it makes sense that they would go to this in a business sense. But it will keep me from buying one.

The game developers and the industry itself is becoming so greedy these days.
Online access codes for games
DLC that equates to buying another game (any capcom fighter)

I think simcity is the only game that requires Internet to play at all, everything other game i have works on or offline. And even it has work arounds. I agree buying online is the way everything is going and I don't have a problem with that.(as I download tomb raider SE, $28.99, pc ftw). I still think only the online elements will require a connection as a lot of people will be using it as a Blu Ray player and such.
