What would be a great second job?
In all honesty, I would take a part time job helping out at a body shop. Too bad I don't have that kind of time. Get some good experience and of course some sweet hook ups on paint jobs. Most of it is simple work (disassembly and assembly). The pros do all the prep work and paint.
Those places are creepy.
I used to have one on a coffee route. A) The employees. B) And worse, the 'clients'. If people knew, they'd make sure their doctor would only infuse as an absolute last resort. Too many times, 'doctors' reach for a unit as if it was 'take two aspirin and call me in the morning'.

At the place I went to, they have to string up all new tubes and everything in the machine before each collection.
Being in a college town (and located just on the edge of the campus), it was almost exclusively students. But there were the occasional shady/trashy ones.

Now I know.
I lost 600 cc's of blood in the last operation. The doctor almost ordered blood but chose not to thankfully. I told him only as a last resort please. However when I woke up and for the next few days my heart rate was raised. Just lying in bed it was like 129. I thought the monitor was broke. Over the next few days it gradually fell to 69 when I left the hospital. I asked what the deal was and they told me that's from blood loss during the surgery.
Now I know.
Now I know.

The second one wasn't sudden and while I knew that you could bank your own blood it slipped my mind till the morning of when I'm signing admission paperwork. Next time I'll be sure and do so.
Which became a concern for the chemo doc. So I told him I had some stored up and they infused it back in me. However, over the next few months they had to stop their chemo plan short at 4 treatments instead of 6 because the platelets dropped too low.
Too bad you can't store it up a few months ahead of time instead of only a 3 week window.

It's not as advantageous as you think. I learned there is only a 21 day window that blood has to be used after its drawn. For me, they drew a unit in two settings, 7 days apart. So by the time both blood lettings were done, there was slightly less than 2 weeks to recover before major surgery. Afterwards my platelets were really low - mostly due to the blood storage. I might have another surgery for a completely different matter by the end of the year
