767/757 Captain for a big airline that does not start with U.
80,000 hp at work and still droolin' for 425 at the wheels ..go figure.
"Mach" is usually about .80. I'd get in alot of trouble for Mach 1 because of all the broken windows.

Yes.......We are irish- well everyone but me anyway. My hubby is full on irish(makes my kids half irish), but unfortunately the NY accent won out over the Irish Brogue his parents and grandparents have and had.
So opening an irish pub would be a cool thing to do.
Although where we are moving- there are no pizza delivery places- we could open a Dominos and make a buttload of money. 3,000 houses and no pizza delivery? Hades yes!

I am the Chief Operations Officer for an Insurance & Financial services brokerage, and soon to CEO/Owner/Pres of a bath and body company.
100% Irish, would love to own a pub. In fact, its in the plans... as soon as I get my company off the ground and turning a profit, will be getting one of those... and a night club. Always wanted to own a night club.

Wife manages the Corner Office in Costa Mesa and we're looking for an opportunity ourselves. Always wanted a beach-bar. Too many misspent years in Mallorca.

Service Manager
Let's see....I graduated with a BS Degree in Business Marketing and went into working as a Service Writer for a Mercedes Benz Dealership in Annapolis, MD. I loved the job and customers but hated the childish preschool attitude found among employees at Car dealerships.
I then became self imployed as a Manufacturers Representative in the Card/Gift/Toy industry....I sold all the cool stuff you see in Hallmark and other related stores. I covered the Mid-Atlantic area(MD,DC, DE, VA, WVA) so I drove daily...worked from home(which is not all it's cracked up to be) and I worked on Straight commission. I enjoyed that job but then started my own side business in '99 as well selling Mustang parts and servicing the occasional car/doing some restoration work.
I then gave up my sales rep job and moved to Alabama(because I loved the area and the MD area cost of living and crowding disgusted me). I went into my Mustang business full time starting with a 1500 Sq. ft. shop when I first moved here and a year later built a new 6500 Sq. ft. shop....I do everything from parts sales to full restorations and hot rod work....Not getting rich, surviving but loving every minute of my job

Now that's a fun job! Although I wouldn't fly for a billion bucks.

Ya know...it's still fun after 24 years.
I'll bet you've heard the statistic about being 15 times safer in the air than you are in your car...last year it was 30X.
What about flying scares you??

I have issues with heights. Anything more than say ten feet off the ground(If I can see the ground) sends me into a panic. So I avoid heights-at all costs.
I am building a house- the upstairs is floored, the attic is not. I stepped off the upstairs, and freaked out. I do my best to keep planted on the ground.

An irish bar will never fly in Alabama......So I am screwed unless I move somewhere pub friendly(Alabama likes redneck bars and clubs). Oh well, too much else to screw with right now.

Before I started doing this I was an Air traffic Controller in the Navy for 7 years, then worked Martin Airport in Baltimore as a contract controller, then FAA until Reagan fired us .
ATC was and still is a deep interest of mine; many fond memories and stories. I wouldn't trade those 8 1/2 years for anything.

I know where Martin's is. I manage a Surgical Pratice in Towson, Maryland. I see the transport planes all the time. I guess when they have to go north or something. I have been here for 18 years. Very large group, and I love working with patients. Yea the insuracne and billing end is a bit nerve recking but I knew what I was getting into when I took this job. Most of the older staff has left all new faces. One of my freinds left last tuesday after being here with me for 13 years. The surgeon she worked for retired because of malpractice insurance costs. Her surgeon only worked a few days a week to spend time with her children. And when the new insurance practices took place she couldn't afford to work anymore. It is really to bad. She was a great surgeon.

Having gone to law school, I at one point was going to be a Lawyer... Then I got into Veterinary medicine, did that for MANY years, had a sponsorship to go to Davis. Law school killed by my sons arrival, Davis killed by my daughter's arrival.
I am also trained and certified as an ISO 9000 Auditor, and Doc Control. As well as having gone to RN school.
Then I was going to start school for forensic pathology, which is a mixture of all my obsessions.... medicine (surgery and psychology), law, and detective work.
How I ended up in Insurance is pure hapanstance.

My official title is "Mortgage Service Specialist". Basically I am just huge data base for information for loan officers. Its alright, pay isn't as good as it should be though.

Need to add to mine....
I am also a volunteer Fire Fighter with 5 years experience. I've taken many, many classes and recieved a ton of certs.
Unfortunatley... fire depts here are predominatley volunteer and not paid.
I took the FF test for the city of Reading and came in 69 out of over 1000 people. Even though I aced the test, people with military background who scored 96% got 5% added on thus giving them a boost.
Not to sure what I think about that, but alas thats the way it goes
Please let me know if any cities near any of you guys and gals are hiring and I will be there taking the test!
Thanks,
Andy
