What car did you learn to drive on?
I learned to drive in a Fighter (at least thats why I think it was called) It was a special edition Ford F-150 from Mexico ( I want to say it was Mexico's version of the Lightning but I am not sure) Beautifull truck! I tried looking up some info on the truck but came up with blanks.
My dad took me out to a ranch with him, then when we were leaving he said you are going to be my driver for the rest of the day. Showed me how to shift gears right then and there, then straight to the highway, with 18 wheelers and everything, and headed for some other ranches. I was 8 or 9 at the time

Ford Tempo (automatic) and Chevrolet Corsica (manual). I had to learn to drive both automatic and manual. I remember my last driving lesson on Corsica, my driving instructor told me "When you buy a car, make sure its automatic." One year latter I got 5-speed manual Ford Mustang.

A 1937 Buick Special 2 door, straight eight, sedan with mechanical brakes and of course a non-synchro 3 speed. That hood was so long - it looked like a runway!

Just kidding!
My grandmother's big blue Chevy something or other. I was 4. Slipped in the front seat, pushing buttons and pulling levers and popped it out of park. It rolled 20 feet into a cedar tree. Lucky for me I was unharmed (until Mom got me). The car got a nice dent on the bumper but the cedar tree didn't fare as well. Cracked the trunk and it never recovered. I've never hit a tree since.

first thing I drove was some 90's dodge caravan I'm not sure how old I was. then when I got my learner's I drove my mom's 03 buick century (trust me, I had no say when she picked that) and my dad's Astro cargo van. the first stick I drove was my dad's friends Mercedes Kompressor with a six speed. He said he'd give me a lesson if I got 90's on all my exams and I did. I really want to get my own car as you might have guessed after seeing what I have to drive right now, but Insurance would be very expensive. That's why I'm pushing my Dad to buy a new mustang for himself it wasn't hard after he drove his friend 04 GT convertible. he'd only been driving it a few minutes and he hears some girl say "nice car". (he wants one... my mom needs more convincing)
Learned to drive on my DAd's 57 Chev Bel Air 4 dr which was given to me after I got my license in junior year of HS.
When I was a senior I worked after school at a package delivery company. One of my co-workers was a Philly Cop going thru a divorce. He had a black 66 Pontiac LeMAns that was beautiful [this was 1966]. He said he was going to sell it so I asked if I could take it home and show my father and he could drive the 57. He said sure. After work everyone left and i jumped into the car. I noticed 3 pedals , hmmmmmmmmmmm. Never drove a clutch before. It had a 3 on the tree and an overhead cam 6. It took many blocks of stopping at stop signs and starting out to finally get the hang of it but at least I taught myself to drive a stick. Yes I did buy the car. Kept it until I went to VietNam in 69.

Well, let's see. Do 4wheelers count? If so I got a Honda 70 a week before my 4th birthday & was driving it on my own when I was 5.
Oh.......they don't count...........well, then, my mom when I was 4 & 5 let me drive home from my babysitters house every day in her lap & in her Thunderbird(early 80's I think). But when it came time for my drivers license I had 3 cars. My mom's 95 4-door Escort, my 96 V6 Mustang, & the new 98 Turaus in drivers ed *(75 in a 55 w/my teach in the car, oops).
Also I failed my drivers test twice. 1st because I had the lady beside me almost yelling at me when I pulled out from a stop light & almost got clobbered by a maniac do about 90 that wasn't there 5 seconds earlier when I looked. And the 2nd because I was going almost 60 in a 45 (oops, I didn't know the speed limit). But the 3rd time I sailed through.
Besides I took all 3 of my tests in my moms Escort which I didn't know how her lights & wipers worked. Sheesh it's not like I was actually going to drive it after getting my license anyway. I had my Mustang. We just figured that I would be better taking the test in her Escort & not the Mustang.
Ok, I am shutting up now.........Nice thread by the way. Neat idea.

I learned how to drive on the farm. I was around 11 years old and it was on a Ford tractor. I ran over several chickens, a peacock and a 55 gallon barrel of oil when Dad said that was enough for the day. :drive:
