Doing a project on the coelacanth, and I wanted to know if I'm pronouncing it's scientific name right.
Latimeria chalumnae is the name, and I'm saying it Lata-mear-e-uh cha-loom-nay. Would that be right?

Here we go: let's use "é" for a short "e" like in Ted. Second, the accented syllable is written in capitals. In conclusion, the correct pronounciation is:
Latimeria = La-tea-MÉ-ree-ah
Chalumnae = Ka-LOOM-né
You're welcome!
P.S.: it's a fish, so I guess you can smoke it!
