Arin, it's been a very long time so I dodn't remember the exact length but it was between 20 and 30 pages for an English class in college. I did a comparison of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness and the African-American of the the Narcissus with a little Lord Jim thrown in for good measure. For some reason the prof loved it and gave me an A.

62 pages double spaced on the theological implications and basis of Milton's "Paradise Lost" and "Paradise Regained," and the subsequent effect of his works on religion. Don't ask any questions, because after that paper I swore off anything having to do with that crap for all eternity. NEVER join the Honors College. *shudder*
Got an A though. ^_^

I have been lucky (or not lucky if you think about it) to get the professors that do not require long papers. I have written about ten 15 max. page papers. Writing one right now for my ethnography course (how does the teacher I am observing use shaming to socialize his students into classroom norms and rules?). Written other papers on the history of Drums, my fathers immigration to the U.S. and the events that allowed him to migrate and not suffer the 80's depression in the labor sections, the theraputic advantages of reading children's literature, and the media's power to keep African American sterotypes alive from the first years of television and movies til now, to name a few.
All of my papers have received A's
