U.S. gas prices
#22
I have to go with Brandon here that I seriously doubt they are laughing at us with their lower living standards, lack of freedoms and some of their repressive governments (Venezuela, etc).
Gas prices have always lagged behind the rest of the world here in the U.S., as pointed out with the prices in Europe and Canada. We have been lucky thus far and I have been waiting for this to happen.
Does it suck that it is costing more, yes. I am not thrilled with the increase but we will survive.

i think it would help if everyone didn't freak out. the world isn't ending. the pipelines will be fixed and hopefully this whole situation will force our elected officials to get their *sses in gear and get more refineries built and more domestic drilling started. we can make our own dang gas.

Gas prices... Theres a big debate :bang: :bang: Those of you outside the U.S. will find if you do your homework, that you are paying less for the fuel... but the taxes on it are what is driving your costs though the roof..Here in the U.S. It's all about greed and corp's and there share holder's.. Price Cap's need to be put in place Right now before thing's get all the way out of control...Nixon had to do it in the early 70's and it need's to be done Now... Sorry for the rant..It's just my high horse and I'll get off it now

The problem here is not the want, but the will. Any time someone brings either of these subjects to the table, the extereme whacko environmentalists start to belly-ache, the media does it's one sided reporting, the finger gets pointed at "evil big business" and we are put back in the same boat. Someone needs to get a backbone and put this right.

My father who worked in the oil business for 30 years thinks gas prices will stabalize in a few years at about 4-5 a gal mainly because of refining capacity. We are pretty much at our max here and the gas copanies wont build new ones because it would lower prices and they wouldnt make as much money. The big oil companies arre making money hand over fist off us and they have paid off so many politicians that they wont do anything about it. And no I am not blaming bush ( even though I think he is incompetent), He isnt to blame for gas prices.

The problem is that most families are now using their desposable income to pay for gas... that means that little jim might not get those new shoes he wants... That will put us in recession! we need to open our backup supply...

So, that's what, $.04 US a gallon? Isn't gas in Dubai ridiculously low?

azoufan ~ Actualy those emails have been done before. I have gotten like 3 in the last 5 years. They just never work. People are not just going to sit home and twidle their thumbs. They are going to drive & burn gas.
I work at a truck stop & just last night we imposed a 5gal limit on gasoline, although we are still at 2.899 for regular. We are at 2.829 for diesel & haven't set a limit because we have plently. But we are running a little low on the gasoline. Hence the 5gal limit. Plus it helps keep our price down. When everyone else is at 3+ for reg we are still 20cents cheaper.
In Memphis many places are out of gas completely & have a 50gal limit on diesel. Needless to say truck drivers are not happy & are talking of parking. Hopefully this won't happen. If it does we are all screwed.
BTW a scotter is sounding like a good idea right about now. Because even though the truck stop is 2miles from my house, WalMart (my other job) is 15. Anyway.
