Thats Gross!
So, being cajun, I've eaten some 'weird' things, alot of people think crawfish are disgusting, and alligator is just out of the question. But, both are quite delicious.
QUESTION:
Whats the strangest thing you have ever eaten?
OR whats something you haven't tried YET but are planning on eating one day?
==================================================
You might be a Cajun if...
Watching "Wild Kingdom" inspires you to write a cookbook.
You think a lobster is a crawfish on steroids.
You think boudin, hogshead cheese, and Bud is a bland diet.
You take a bite of 5 alarm Texas chili and reach for the Tabasco.
Your children's favorite bedtime story begins "First make a roux."
Your school teaches the four basic food groups as boiled seafood, broiled seafood, fried seafood and beer.
You're asked to name the four seasons and reply, "Onions, celery, bell pepper and garlic."
You're asked to name the Fab Four" and answer, "Paul Prudhomme, John Folse, Justin Wilson, and Vernon Roger."
Your description of a gourmet dinner includes the words "deep fat fried"
You gave up Tabasco for Lent.
You know the difference between Zatarains, Zeringue and zydeco.
And my personal favorite: You refer to Louisiana winters as "gumbo weather."

I enjoy both crawfish and gators. I hate that I'm missing the Crawfish Boil this weekend, but I'd rather be at the Mustang show in Huntsville anyway.
The worst thing I've ever eaten was salmon lasagna at The Luvre in Paris. I don't know who thought to combine salmon and lasagna or why my grandmother ordered it, but sweet lord it was terrible.

Never eaten anything odd in my life. I stick to your basic farm animal and salt water fish for my meat eating needs.
Grossest thing I have ever been asked to try is raw clams(apparently a northern delicacy)- friggin disgustin.
Before we were married my soon to be Father in law asked: would you like some clams. Me being from Alabama think clams=FRIED
He gave me a piece of snot on the half shell and I nearly lost my cookies.

Cajun food rocks!!! I love crawfish and lobster and all that kind of stuff. Calamari (squid is great too)
The weirdest thing I've ever eaten was raw eel. It had an odd fishy taste and was really rubbery. I didn't really enjoy it but hey now I can say I've tried it!

In the Phillipines back in my Navy days they had two delicasies; one waws monkey on a stick [mmmmmmmmmmm] and the other was balloots [eggs that were not quite ready to hatch, an almost formed chicken] YUMMMMy.

I think FEAR FACTOR uses them Balloots WAY to much in their show... thats just down right nasty!! With the veins and all..........

there use to be a video that would show a monkey in the middle of a round table, just his head out, and the people sitting at the table would knock him dead and then eat his brains!
I think it was on FACES OF DEATH... shoot, someone recently posted about that video... anyone else ever see that?
That was some nasty

I think the worst thing i've tried (imo) were frog legs, squirrel, clams, venison heart, liver and onions..........total barf fest!
I lived in Houston for a while, and became friends with a guy from Louisiana. He would have an annual crawfish boil/party.
Me (from Jersey) and the little kids would get hot dogs made by his mother.
I also went to crawfish festivals and got chicken sandwiches. This is not for lack of trying the crawfish, but mainly because I found them kind of gross, and not worth the effort of ripping apart.

I love that Cajun food. Never had a raw clam but I've eaten more than my share of raw oysters. And I love sashimi. I haven't eaten gator and doubt that I ever will. Balloots--no way!
I've eaten a lot of strange things in my travels, but once I was the guest of honor at a Vietnamese army dinner in the field. They served, among other things, almonds in duck blood. They served me first and I had to eat it but I passed on seconds.

I think its regional.
Hubby is from Long Island He will not eat:
Fried Green Tomatos,Okra, Zucchini, yellow Squash,Fatback, White Meat, Collards,Grits..
On the other hand being from the south, I will not eat some of that foul crap up north- lox, Clams etc.
BUT He loves crawfish, So do the kids. I dont like em.
I am making up a mess of Fried Green Tomatos very soon.......My very second favorite may treat just behind watermelon.
