I just bought one as a gift the other day. I asked all the tech and IT guys I know and they said the ipad or the nexus. I looked over hundreds of reviews and found the nexus was better liked.
I bought the ASUS Google Nexus 7” IPS Quad-Core 32GB Tablet w/ Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
I got it from sears.com and had them price match the walmart cyber week price. It was selling from sears.com for $244 with free shipping. walmart had it for $189 with free shipping. Since I used my sears card to buy it I earned a ton of bonus points on my card.
$200 shipped to my door

Spend a little more and get a regular iPad. Or even a used one. You really can't hurt the operating system on those things. You can wipe them out and start back at factory settings whenever you want. Other than that, galaxy is ok, asus makes a decent android tablet also.

Everyone I know that has dell anything becomes disappointed with it. Might as well just go with HP if you're considering dell. Also, as smaller tablets go, that Kindle Fire HD is a great little cheap tablet.

I dont own one but check out the Kindle Fire they are clearing out last years model for 229. Big 8.9" screen. The new HDX version is 379, and there are alot of reviews on Amazon should help you decide which way to go on it.

I have an original Kindle Fire and it was a great "starter" tablet, but I'm currently selling it because I need something more capable. I've never used one of the newer Kindle Fires, but I feel like I would run into the same problem with those too.

Yep. Our Hp desktop has been a decent machine for a while now. It's choked down with spyware and viruses I'm sure now. We will be swapping over to Mac for that soon enough though. People can hate all they want but Apple just can't be beat. They just keep going forever it seems.

My daughter has been using the galaxy 10" for the past year with no complaints. My wife has the ipad (sorry no pics of her to post right now) that thing is pretty darn good to say the least.

Not trying to sell anyone but I've been using Mac since 1990. You really can't go wrong. I just retired my old imac of 7 years for a new one. I know apple is pricey but you spend more replacing cheap/virus loaded crap PCs every two years or so. I still have the original imac that looks like an egg from 1998 in storage. The computer still works like new. The point is the same with the tablet pads. Better construction, battery life , and overall longevity... Also, say you didn't like the iPad or for some unknown reason...you can easily recoup your money back in resell. No one is really lining up for Samsung, Nook, Kindle. And so on. P.s. I also teach technology to Master level educators. I also taught high school career and technologies electives for many years before higher Ed...I've been in the trenches. Hope this doesn't turn into a Mac/PC debate but Apple really is the way to go.

I'm the High bidder right now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251392856241...84.m1431.l2649
Just for the fun of it. It should go higher than my bid of 305.00
