You can only hope its better the the first two. The title is the first in this trilogy that sounds a lot like original. Attack of the Clones wasn't bad ... But The Phantom Menace?

Oh a high/low note: The original comes out on DVD 9/21 ... The bad news is that its the special editions George messed around with.

Picky Picky.
I'm buying the original series on 9/21. The newer series has
great photography but "weak" stories.

The funny thing is that almost every Star Wars fan has been awaiting that title since Revenge of the Jedi was retitled Return of the Jedi. Lucas has wanted to use it for a long time.

Yep, Lucas changed it at the last minute because "revenge" was not a jedi trait. Most fans have expected this to be the title of E3 because the titles of the corresponding films parallel each other.

A New Hope = Luke / Something good waiting in the wings
The Phantom Menace = Palpatine/ Something bad waiting in the wings

The Empire Strikes Back = Action in title / Bad guys striking
Attack of the Clones = Action in title / Good guys striking

Return of the Jedi = Anakin turn back into a Jedi / Jedi come back into power in galaxy
Revenge of the Sith = Anakin becomes Sith / Sith come into power in galaxy

If this one doesn't end up great...

Lucas is gonna face REVENGE OF ROMERO! :jedi:

I have been to the Ranch... I know where your office is...

(this is all in jest , Lucas has nothing to fear from me, though I do know where his office is... )

Lucas is always best when he has a lot of input from others. The first trilogy (and the Indiana Jones triliogy) as examples ... He had input on them, but heavily relied on others to make them.

When it's just him ... I dunno. It's wooden and silly.

At least Attack of the Clones was an improvement on TPM ... The only thing worth saving from TPM was the Darth Mual/Jedi fight ... Everything else amazingly silly. Those Ewoks made for TV movies were better.

Lucas's directing style is simply saying "more intense," from stories I've heard.

I'm giving him until May 19th, 2005 to tie up all the loose ends and letdowns and make this a great trilogy. Until then, to pass judgment on the previous films when they're meant to be part of an currently incomplete whole is silly.

I've always thought along those lines, kotzenjunge. I think (hope is more like it) that Lucas will tie it all together and make us who go back and watch ep. 1 see things that make it better than it was by itself.

Agree and disagree. The story Arc we can't judge. Wooden acting and silly dialog we can. Even as seperate films, each of the original can standalone -- the same for the LOTR films.

We can't judge the whole story arc, but a movie can be judged to be well-made or not as a standalone entity.

Doris is right. The original films were great on their own, I could sit down and watch Empire Strikes Back and be happy with that story alone. These first two in the new series have some great production but the stories seem kinda week. God I feel like some sci-fi geek. I need to look at Mustang pictures now.

Console yourself in the fact SW is mostly Fantasy with Sci-Fi elements.

at least we aren't talking about Star TreK!

The original trilogy exactly didn't have shakespearean acting skills. And Han Solo actually had some pretty cheesy dialogue, but somehow he'll always be extremely cool. I guess it's all about the cool factor. Though I actually thought Jar-jar was cool in "Attack of the Clones." He was way saturated in Episode 1.
