wel.... i've made a really big decison today. but first let me say, that over the course of this summer, i've fvisited three different colleges that i woulc love to attend. and its safe to say that i've learned a few things. one of the most important being that grades are important!
that was the good news, i learned something, heres the bad:
well first off you need to know, my sophomore year in high school (that would be this last year) was a flop. barely came through with a 3.2ish GPA. for once in my life i almost didnt even pass all my classes. so in an effort to increase my GPA to have the broadest spectrum of schools to choose from im....im.....givein up football... there i said it. man im a wreck right now, but i really do think its for the best. i never really had the talent to go farther than high school, and i know it. if you've ever thought otherwise, you fell pray to my amazing wits
i know how i've always said never give up, you can always get your dreams and that crap, but i now know that i need to give up some of my smaller dreams to attain my big ones (like you know, getting into a good college and getting a job as an automotive engineer)
im not exactly happy about it, per se, but i know its the right thing to do. i wish i didnt have to, i love football and always will, but its high time i prioritized myself. plus i'll always be the great niner fan i am, and i can still watch all the football i want, so i think i can live with it.
just ranting cuz ifi dont i'll go more insane than i am already
:sigh:

Just remember to not sell yourself short by trying to focus all your time on grades. What I mean is that a well rounded individual partakes in many different activities. Just focusing on grades may/may not have as positive effect on college/job as you may think.
A person with a 3.5 that plays varisty sports will receive just as much attention as a person with a 4.0 and no extracurricular activities. A letter of recommendation from a coach, or other activity goes can go a LONG way.
Good luck with your decision.
It shows just how mature some of our young people are nowadays!!

Arin...You can come be my kid anytime you want too!! What I would give, for my son to have saw that early on in highschool. You are very wise for your years!! You have the insight to be very successful one day. Good Luck to You!!

thanks guys! i needed that.
and trust me Jason, there is no way in heck i can spend all my time on school. for one, i have TMS lol and #2, i also think giving up football might give me more time to hang out with some friends that i dont normally have time to be with. and plsu theres still track and feild, which was totally not as much of a drain as football.
i have plenty of other extracurricular stuff i do, aside from sports. in fact i was kinda thinking of starting a school based car club or something.... you know, like the cheese club , just more cars, less cheeze :P
plus it will aslo give me more time to just chill and stop for a bit and take a whole break from all the stress of being a varsity athlete, and a good student, and a friends and all that. thats something i REALLY wish i had this year.
i know i'll miss football, but i dont think i'll brood over it.thanks for all your guys support. words of encourangement rom friends are always welcom
donna- let me drive your car, and you can go ahead and adopt me :P

Arin, I have to agree with Evil_Capri on this. This is a very mature decision you are making, but also think about the fooseball is something you truely love. With extra hard work, I am willing to bet you could play football and still bring your grades up. Just hump it and do both. We have faith in you.

#1 i dont play "fooseball"
#2 i really appreciate your confidence guys, but i know me. and that means i know that i'll try and work harder for football than i will for school. i'll end up being obsessed with it and not caring about school at all, like i did last year. which i've really come to regret now
i just really dont wanna take the chance. now that i've been around and seen what college is like and what i need to get where i want to go, i've realized giving up something small can only help in the long run. plus, as long as i have such great friends, even if some of them are a bit of a drive (or a flight even) away, i dont really need anything else. (yes that means you guys :P )
you guys rock

now thats what im talking about! lolJason- how you people put up with distance i'll never know lol. maybe its because of football, but im only useful for one lap or less, and then im spent lol.
Arin, that's an amazing level of clarity you are finding at a young age.
Life is full of times when we have to chose between "what we want to do," and "What we need to do."
When I was still in the service, I would often have 18-20 yr old enlisted folks working for me who not only couldn't make a choice, but didn't even recognize that there was a decision to make.
You are well on the way to equiping yourself to handle many of life's toughest challenges.

:P you know I'm just playin witcha man, Hope everything works out for the best

Wow, what a big choice. It is very wise of you to do this, because Jr. year is a very important year, and alot of times the toughest.
Good luck with your career choice, your mentality will prove strong

Arin..I think and agree with Jason too...this is a very mature decision. If i could go back in time I'd have studied and done alot harder in school. I didn't and look at me now. I got a job I hate and have to struggle like crazy to even get a little bit of recognition (outside of this board)
I sometimes think if I had better grades and went to college I'd be in alot better shape with life right now. I do have the one saving grace of having great common sence which i will always say gets you further in life socially than booksmarts..but book smarts pays the bills!
Good luck mate!

Arin, I think you stumbled into an amazing idea... The Car & Cheese Club! (CCC for short). Combining two of the greatest things in the world.
