I am looking into getting a satellite radio. Has anyone used one? What is better XM or Sirius?

wow. hot topic. well i am leaning towards the sirius. I think they have better programming and 100% commercial free. The fact clear channel has a big stke in XM isnt helping their case either.

anyway I found if you go to sirius.com you can listen to all the channels on your computer for free for 3 days.

and why am i talking to myself?

I bought my wife a sirius setup for her birthday. That thing is awesome. We absolutely enjoy the heck out of it. Any type of music you want and they add channels here and there (at the expense of others) to keep it interesting. Can listen to games, some tv channels and any type of music you want from bach to rogers and hammerstein to iron maiden :headbang: Can listen to it here or at the beach or wherever ya go..

We got the home dock to so we can bring it in and play it over the home stereo. Once your signed up you have full access to their channels to stream on your computer at work too. I give it a definite thumbs up. Its very common for my wife to sit in the driveway for a few minutes after she gets home cause theres a song on she hasnt heard in years or a new one she loves.

I have an XM radio in my stang. I love it. Some stations have commercials but the majority of them do not. I havent really checked into sirus but I hear that XM has more channels than sirus. Just my two cents!

Well hey Shelby, glad to see ya stopped by

I love XM, I think its going to be my next purchase. Just gotta figure out if I am getting a beater to drive back and forth to work or not yet. Then I can decide which car it goes in

A guy I work with has had XM for about a year. He was talking the other day about switching to Sirius because he was tired of the commercials.

No first hand experience here though.

I just saw a commercial for Dodge trucks and they come with sirius and a year of service. It would be nice to have that on our trucks at work. It's weird that you can get a pickup these days with as many options as a luxury car.

At sirius.com u can sign up as a guest and listen to all the channels for 3 days on ur pc for free. I havent stopped listening since.

I bought the sirius jampack at best buy. It is onsale for $125 this week I think. Anyway that comes with the receiver and whatever you need to use it in your car. It has a built in FM modulator so all you do is plug it into ur cigarette lighter and the satellite antenna and your in business. Best buy installed the antenna in my car for $30.

I am very happy with it. It is nice to not hear the same song every 30 mins in between 15 min commercial breaks like on FM.

Oh yeah you can also take the receiver out of your car and they make a boombox that it docks into. I bought that for work.

Thanks, That helps. I think I will go with sirius. Why pay just to hear commercials anyway?

OK... now I am REALLY glad I got the sirius. Clear Channel in their infinite wisdom turned the only FM hard rock station in Dallas into an oldies station today.

Let the brainwashing begin... pretty soon in between the 15 min commecials all you will get on every station will be the beach boys.

Clear channel :notnice:

I don't spend much time listening to the radio, besides, why would I pay to listen to it?

if I want to hear a particular song, I just grab the CD before I head out.1

well i have a 1 hr commute each way so i listen to the radio a lot in the car. the last thing i want to do is listen to 30 commercials for weight loss products, car lease companies and mortgage companies.

I havent bought a cd in years and I wont because usually there arent enough good songs on one to justify spending 15-20$ on it.

I also have one of those jobs where I can listen to the radio all day... so I get tired of hearing the same 20 songs over and over.

plus now that i can listen to sirius on my pc it makes internet browsing that much more entertaining. tv is lame. the only thing i watch is the sopranos and i will cancel hbo in 2 weeks when the season is over.
