Ryan Dunn's Estate Sued
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1765600.html
I expected to see this at some point, just figured it would have happened sooner rather than later.
The parents of the passenger (Zachary Hartwell) are sueing Dunn's estate and the bar that Dunn and Hartwell had been at.
They are sueing the bar for negligence which certainly has been done before. I dont know how I feel about that, on the one hand, I think that the patron is responsible for their alchohol consumption however I suppose they could have stepped in and offered Dunn alternate transportation (good and conscionable business I suppose).
Next up they are sueing for funeral costs, I dont think that is to unreasonable since Dunn crashed the car and killed their son.
They are also sueing for wages lost over Hartwell's lifetime, that one has me scratching my head unless Hartwell was supporting his parents in some fashion, then it would make sense to me at least.
This one again has me scratching my head; reparation for pre-impact fright, fear, pain and suffering - not getting that one at all? It just seems superfluous and more like a money grab for the lawyer?
And of course unspecified damages which I would guess includes the parents actual pain and suffering? Which may or may not be part of the reparation in which case I could see that (but why not just say the parents pain and suffering?).
