Runners?

ok.. so I would never consider myself a runner, but I have taken it up recently and ran a 5k this summer. I want to keep it up for exercising because.. let's just say I'm a little over my playing weight. Yesterday I ran my farthest distance I've ever run without walking... 3.3 miles. Hopefully coming out into public will help me continue... I'll go ahead and post my times in this thread. anyone else run? any good tips?

I learned a long time ago that I can only run when someone is yelling at me. So after I got out of sports in school I'm pretty much done. I've got will power. But not enough to do something I genuinely don't like much.

I was a distance runner, ran cross country for 8 years. 5th grade to senior in highschool.

Great job for getting out there and doing it. In high school i could do that in a little over half of your time. Not sure what I would do it in now.

Practice is your best friend in distance running, to build up your stamina. in cross country the shortest runs we did were 3 miles. practices were usually 3-8 miles. occasionally up to 10-12 miles.

I wish i would get out there and run but i just never do anymore and I am always in good shape somehow so I never really see the need for it, but I am sure it would be good for me.
