Put my 88 F250 4x4 to the test

Working out in the yard today and my son mentioned that we needed to get a stump out of the yard. I said Ill get the 4 wheel drive, woo hoo! Backed up to the stump, tied a chain around it and hooked onto the ball on the bumper. Locked the front hubs, pulled her down into 4 wheel drive and took up the slack on the chain. Put a little pressure on it and asked my son if the wheels were turning, they were'nt. So I decided to back up just a little and put a little hit on it. Gave it some gas and BANG! I ripped the bumper off the truck. I got out laughing as my wife and son were staring at me for my response was not what they expected. I bought this old '88 F250 4x4 farm truck with 460 EFI auto for really cheap so it was no big deal to me. I'm glad I wasn't towing a trailer as the bumper wasn't welded on very good. Backed up and hooked the chain to the remaining bracket and got the stump out. This was a good laugh for me and a test of the truck. Built Ford Tough but the bumper wasn't as originally installed. What word starts with F and ends with UCK? Ford Truck! kennyg

shoulda used my II back in the day. it used to have a tow hitch directly welded to the frame :P

also, those 460s are freakin awesome! my buddies got a 91 F250 with that motor. aint fast, but it'll tow your house right off of the foundation. my friend always used to tell me, it doesnt matter that its slow because even with a camper, a trailer and two horses in the back it didn't get any slower. ever lol. hell that truck pulled my II out of a ditch once

Thats cool man. I also got an 88 F250 with the 460 in it. I think mine is a TBI tho and also it is a 2WD. That truck has over 300,000 on it and the motor has never been rebuilt or replaced. The only thing that it is wrong with it right now is that the rear main seal is leaking. Couldnt ask for a better truck.
