That is beautiful! The one you're building! If I did my video/picture/audio editing on a pc, it would be very close to what you're configuring.

What programs do you use for your work other than photoshop?

I occasionally use 3ds Max but that's about it

And thanx good to know my choices are validated by somone who knows his stuff.

It's probably over kill but i like to play the occasional game and I ususally go 4-5 years between systems (lack of cash) so I need to be close to if not ahead of the curve when i buy/build one

hey colin, you have a pretty sweet computer as it is. much better than the oldest system i'm running.

a 200 mHZ Pentium 1 with 256 of RAM, a CD-RW drive and a 15" crt monitor w/ 16 mb video card.
and its even running windows xp home decently fast

but yeah, unless you're doing some major video/image work on your computer, that is one helluva machine.

haha i especially like the paintjob, have any pictures?

There's a pretty simple reason for that, you have on-board video and your motherboard is setup to utilize 8MB of system RAM as video RAM. This is by far the most likely scenario in which you would have 504MB of RAM listed.

Typical amounts of RAM are 128MB (for WinXP, lol), 256MB, 512MB, and 1024MB (1GB). 2048MB (2GB) is common among the high-end these days as well. Since I took the time to type out this long-winded response I might as well list my system specs I guess.

3.0 GHz P4E
D865PERL mobo
blessed heavy 19" Viewsonic CRT
1GB DDR400 RAM
200GB WD Caviar SE harddrive
128MB Geforce FX 5600XT (definitely, definitely time to upgrade this)
Dual-layer Lite-On DVD burner
AOpen CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive
