parking tickets

So I used to live in an apartment and the cops would constantly go thru the lot and write tickets for no village stickers.

They came so often I found it hard to keep up with paying $25 each time. I know it would ahve been much easier to buy the village sticker but its too late now.

So i got a letter that my license was suspended for 3 unpaid tickets. So i went to go pay them and there were 18 unpaid tickets. And they since uped the amount owed and they now want $2040 for them.

Anyone know what steps I need to do to reduce this? I'll pay the 25 each for a total of $450 but over $2000 is outragous.

Go to court and negotiate. If that doesn't work, ask for a break. You're dealing with the government and are pretty much at their mercy. I would say get a lawyer, but that's more money as well.

Why are cops writing parking tickets on private property?

Hard to say without knowing the particulars. Go to court, wear a suit, be humble and articulate, explain your situation and offer to pay the fine amount the accrued before they "upped" it. They could still tell you to pound sand.

I'm kinda curious how the Batcave got on their beat...

Ok, ok, in all seriousness... maybe get the sticker, and then beg, plead for mercy?

18 times. Ow. That's 133.33 a piece... which seems a very odd number to make a ticket for... but the real problem is the "chronic repeat offender" issue... court probably won't care to hear whatever argument regarding the reason you got 18 tickets.

To which you may have a proper defense if you didn't have proper notification or some other legality in that regard. I would at least consult with a lawyer on that.

Unless the fact is you just pulled the 'notifications' from under the windshield wiper and tossed them... oops.

Methinks we need more info to continue with this... otherwise...
