New Virginia Speeding Law

Thumbs down New Virginia Speeding Law

I live in North Carolina and have heard that Virginia passed a law that anyone caught going 15 or more over the posted limit also pays an additional $1,000 for the ticket.....since the state budget is so high and other revenue streams are so low. Anyone in Virginia heard of this?

Stay in NC. I believe the law you refer to only applies if you live in VA.

There's pretty much an article a day in the paper about someone who's been hit with this fine and is fighting it by saying it's unconstitutional (becuase it applies to VA residents only). Most judges are ruling that it's unconstitutional in their juristictions but I think a few said it wasn't.
