What started as small clean-up project in one of my garages, evolved into "let's build new benches" (his and hers as my wife wanted an area for doing her gardening activities), then we figured paint was in order as the walls only had primer (my wife actually came up with the stripe idea... which came out great!) and there was no way I was going to put everything back in a nice painted garage without putting epoxy on the floor!

So over a month and half later, along with what seemed like endless hours painting (especially the striping) and prepping the floor, we finally had some warm weather over the past week (wanted to ensure the cement was warm enough for the epoxy to cure correctly), so I did the final floor prep on Friday night, then laid down the epoxy Sat. morning.

And the final result came out great! But now it makes the other garage look terrible, so next up will be the floor and will wait until fall to continue the paint theme into there as well since they are connected.

Now we have to wait a week before parking a car and rolling my large tool chest back in... and then we can finally get everything back into order

And the final result. The small room on the left is an insulated compressor area where I have a 6HP, 60 gallon set-up. Overkill for me these days, but nice to have!







I had the 2 smaller Gladiator cabinets before starting the project, but added the large one



The overhead shelves worked out great for storing stuff like lawn chairs and coolers. I installed 2 - 8 ft sections... but this is where my wanting 10 foot ceilings really helps!

 

That is sweet!! Really need to convince my dad to do something with ours.

The Rustoleum kit that you can get from most big hardware stores. Pick them up for $57/kit on sale and this one took 2 gallons.

But now the challenge is keeping it clean.

Believe me when I say I know the hard work that goes into painting, ESPECIALLY when striping the walls. You and your wife did an awesome job!

It did not seem like too big of deal when we were planning it, but having to run 4 strips of masking tape, while trying to keep it straight and level was definitely a tedious task. And then the crazy red paint just would not cover the gray as it seemed very translucent, even though it is a dark color. I ended up having to apply like 5 coats to get it to cover and even then I can see a hint of the gray in some areas of the stripe. And because so much time transpired with all the coats, I had to score the edge of the paint/tape line so the tape would lift off nice and clean.

Leason learned for the other garage as the red stripe will get applied right after the white and before doing the gray

Nice work , may I suggest a bungie cord around the garden tools just incase . they look like hot wheels at a store , as soon as you touch one ten fall down.

They are actually very secure, but since this garage will house my riding lawn mower (which normally sits right under the tools) and the wife's Honda, I am not too worried about it. My 'Stang and DD are parked in the other garage... which is up next for paint and epoxy.

I made mention as a former boss bought a new Dodge Stealth first day in his garage where the vac canister is stored on the wall, well the Mrs. dropped the bottom half on top of the hood Day 1 . and don't forget to draw lines around the tools ? incase Cheech & Chong reside next door lol
