Pangur Ban

From this poem
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>PANGUR BAN

I and Pangur Ban my cat,
‘Tis a like task we are at:
Hunting Mice is his delight,
Hunting words I sit all night.

Better far than praise of men
‘Tis to sit with book and pen;
Pangur bears me no ill will,
He too plies his simple skill.

‘Tis a merry thing to see
At our tasks how glad are we,
When at home we sit and find
Entertainment to our mind.

Oftentimes a mouse will stray
In the hero Pangur’s way;
Oftentimes my keen thought set
Takes meaning in its net.

‘Gainst the wall he sets his eye
Full and fierce and sharp and sly;
‘Gainst the wall of knowledge I
All my little wisdom try.

When a mouse darts from its den
O How glad is Pangur then!
O what gladness do I prove
When I solve the doubts I love!

So in peace our tasks we ply,
Pangur Ban, my cat and I;
In our arts we find our bliss,
I have mine and he has his.

Practice every day has made
Pangur perfect in his trade;
I get wisdom day and night
Turning darkness into light.
[/b][/quote]

Or Ming which is what our Siamese was called

Si is pinyin romanization, and is pronounced 'suh', kinda short, not drawn out. A little hard to explain, if you've ever heard anyone break baseball into 3 sylables, ba-se-ball, it's like that.

Tsi I'm not sure about, kinda look like wade-giles, but I found a converter online and it doesn't show up as anything there. My best guess would be it's a wag (wild hiney guess) as 'ci', also pinyin, which is pronounced like the Si above, but you actually add just a touch of the t at the beginning.

I learned chinese using pinyin romanization, but in my 12 years on the job, I did occationally see other styles. Been a long time though.

As for their meanings, there would be several. You'd have to get a dictionary and go through them all. If you want something with a 'ee' sound, as far as pinyin goes anyway, you could try "xi", which would kinda like combining the words "see" and "she". Not the full sh sound, but also not the full s sound, either, something in between.

I have a new (7 months now) kitten as well, similar to yours, but with stripes thrown in on his tail, legs, and face. We decided on Frankie Blue-Eyes Sinatra. No bend in the tail, but he's definitely got the Saimese meow.

My Mother in Laws Siamese was named San-chi. Tsi(I just fiddled around with the name Si- (you know Si and Am from Lady and the tramp). He came to us being called Pasco.

Hmm.
Lets Add
Tao

I like..
Hsin
Manchu
Zhou

Too bad he's a boy. I was going to name it Sayuri if I would have waited 8 weeks for the Chocolate point girl. I may still get the chocolate point girl. They were born April 29th.
(I am impatient, so I got my third choice in color which was ready now). I got him here:

http://oursiamesebeauties.com/Site/Home-1.html

I wanted in Descending order
Seal
Chocolate
Blue
Lilac.

Here is him with his brother.
He is on the right.

Last night I snatched up the one on the left- I can't tell em apart.
