The car has the looks.
The car has the speed.
But you have to admit, having the MP3 option
add's the the quality of the car. I just put the whole Van Halen
Discography all on one cd. Wow. 12 cd's on one disc.
How many of you did the same and what bands did you do.

I've done 8 CDs of MP3s so far, but I only get like 4-5 CDs worth per MP3 disc. I refuse to run anything less than 192kbps through my Shaker 1000

Most of the ones I have now are 256 or 320k.

I have done the same with Pink Floyd and Metallica.

Not sure if you noticed, but I was wondering around in Media Player and found Van Halen - Best of Both Worlds for free. It is over 2 hours of Van Halen.

I am trying to look for it. It was one of the featured downloads on Media Player. If you can find their Artist Profile on media player it might still have it.

Edit - Found it:

Kinda weird way to get to it.

Go to media player. Search for "Van Halen." A list will come up with the artist profile. Don't go there, it is a place to buy music. Instead, the second result will be "More Rock (N-Z). Click on this and it will show a few selections. "VH - Full CD" is on the right.

I was putting around 10 to 12 complete albums per mp3 cd with the albums ripped at 128 kbps, but I got tired of the compression artifact, so I went back and reripped everything at 256 kbps. I'm only gettting 5 or 6 albums per CD now, but I am a LOT happier with the sound quality!

I've been spending the last few nights organizing and burning MP3 CDs in anticipation of arrival in a few weeks.

Question for fellow techno geeks: Does the text display on the Shaker read the ID3 tag of the song or the filename? If ID3, does it use v1 or v2?

Also, I know this has been asked before, but has anyone ever figured out an easy way to run an auxillary RCA into the Shaker? It would be nice to hook a Zen/iPod into it without spending a ton on an aftermarket cradle/adaptor.

Hope this doesn't sound dumb since this will be my first mp3 player, but doesn't it say that 128kpbs is cd quality? Shouldn't it sound just as good?

ok, maybe I have a warranty issue. Sometimes, my mp3 cds won't read and will say "bad disk".... Am I using poor blank CDs or am I using the wrong burn quality? I use Musicmatch and Roxio and a high quality PC.....any info would be great. Thanks.

Not sure of a web page. I am using Media Player, so if there is a specific webpage, the address does not show.

Here is a screen shot of what I see. I just clicked on the Van Halen - Full CD link. It downloaded it. I have been listening to it for about a month or so after I downloaded it.

I have gotten a few full CD's this way; Beastie Boys, Fleetwood Mac, Katie Medula, ... I even found a Pearl Jam disc that is called Live at Benaroya Hall and is over 2 hours also. There was also a 5 disc Grateful Dead set. All for free.

I have heard this might be a warranty issue. I have it happen sometimes, as well as others.

Actually, that's a pretty good question. No matter the bitrate, all mp3s have some compression so technically it won't be as good as uncompressed (audio CD). What matters more is how sensitive your ears are. Personally, on 90% of songs, I can't hear the difference between 128kbps and CD. On the few that I can hear the difference, 160 or 192kbps usually does the trick.

Come on guys, fixed bitrates are a thing of the past. Use VBR!

VBR is fairly cool, but 128 kbps isn't CD quality. You hafta get 320 kbps or atleast 256 to be in the CD quality range. If you listen to the same song side by side between a 128 and a 320, you can hear some small differences.

128kbps is "near cd quality" NOT cd quality. Most people can't tell the difference and with the stock systems I doubt you will.

I do agree, VBR (variable bitrate) is the way to go these days. It gets rid of any signal that is either too high or too low for the human ear to hear and that will also help reduce the file size.

before I burned them, i went in and edited each tage with the artist and name of the song and saved it, then when i sent it to the burn part, i had to change the format to a data disc!! not CD, then howevery many MB ur CD-R disc is, is how many songs u can input, so all I did was drag and drop onto the data list and burned it, and tada! the tag title comes out the way u edit it in music match on your stereo system......
